02. Reunited again

Important note: I'm not a native english speaker (nor a professional writer), and though I feel kind of comfortable with it, my level is far from being bilingual. Even so, I wanted to write this story in english so it can be reached by more people (specially Furuba fans). Tohru realized how Yuki had been very thoughtful since they met with Shigure and that girl, so she started to be worried about him. It was very unlikely that he would open his mind to her in front of Kyo, so she awaited for a moment when they could speak alone to try to find out what was happening to him. She didn't need to wait that much, as Kyo soon decided to go out to do some training before dinner.

- Uhm, Yuki... - she choose her words cautiously, trying not to seem too concerned - You have been very quiet for a while...

- Ah... Do you think so? - replied him, without even looking at her. Tohru brought two cups of tea from the kitchen and sat in front of him.

- Is there something that worries you? You know you can tell me anything. - This time Yuki finally raised his head to look at her to see how she was kindly smiling to him. Then he returned his gaze to te ground, a bit ashamed of having worried her.

- It's nothing important, really. It's just that... I think I remembered something...

- You remembered something..? - Tohru encouraged him to continue talking.

- That girl from before, the one that Shigure was talking to... I think I know her. - Yuki hesitated a bit before he could continue talking - She used to live near here and visit us a lot when we were kids.

- Ah! Then, that means she's your childhood friend? That's great! - Tohru exclaimed relieved, as it seemed that nothing important had happened after all.

- Kind of. She used to play with us when we were kids. But one day she suddenly disappeared, and we didn't hear about her ever since.

- I see... But it's great that she's back again, right? You can catch up from all these years! I hope I can meet her too and make acquaintances with her - Said Tohru, in her usual cheerful mood. Yuki looked at her, and couldn't help but smile too.

- I guess you are right Tohru.

"Thump thump... thump thump"

Nao could hear her heart beating faster and louder, she just wished that nobody else could hear it. She had planned this moment many times in her head along the years, and now that she was finally about to reunite with Akito again after so many time... Well, at the moment of truth her heart was almost leaping out of her chest.

Shigure was still accompanying her, but now they were sitting while waiting for Akito in a traditional japanese decorated drawing room, at 'his' house. "I don't know if she's still living like a man, so I will pretend I still believe she is actually a man, I guess..." Nao was mentally reviewing all the things she should and shouldn't say, so the re-encounter could go as smoothly as possible. The last thing she wanted was to become an annoyance to her cousin, she needed to be extra cautious.

The maid that previously led them to the drawing room, appeared once more to offer some drinks to the guests and inform them that they will be able to see Akito in a few minutes.

"Thump thump... thump thump"

"Damn, I can't manage this anxiety much longer..." Nao felt like she could have fainted if she wasn't sitting. "I need to relax, she's just my cousin, nothing have changed between us... at least for me"
