John and his warriors made it to the edge of the lake, changing back into human form, putting their cloths on. They stood, staring out over the lake, thinking on a plan to go off on. He put his hand under his chin, mind racing to form a plan in his head. After a few minutes of staring and watching the lake, he turned to his warriors, letting off a little smile. "Alright guys, are you ready for this?" He asked. They nodded at him, waiting on further instructions. "We do need to make sure that we are careful, and make sure to keep an eye out at all times. They are hunters and can seriously injure us at any time. If they know about us, then they know about wolfs bane. Our main goal is to find the children, but if we can also find out why they are taking them, that can work too. Let us get on the boat, and get this journey started." He preached to them. They nodded their heads and started loading their stuff on the boat.
Starting the engine, they started making their way from shore to the lake, hoping to pick up another scent on the children. They knew this task was going to be difficult, but they had no choice but to try. They made sure to stay as quiet as possible, that way if any hunters were around, they would not notice them being here. John sighed at himself, watching over the lake, trying to find any signs that he can see, and go in that direction. So far though, nothing. He sat down in the seat, still waiting. His top warrior, known as craig, came and sat beside him. "Hey boss." He spoke quietly. John looked at him, nodding at him, still watching. "Hey, try not to worry, we will pick something up, we just have to give it some time." He encouraged. John gave him a small fake smile. Craig was being at the best of heart, and he knew it, but he was having a hard time keeping that same faith. It has been a while since they were taken, how would there be any signs now. They would be out here a while trying to find something, that was possible that would not be there.
A couple of hours flew by, as they slowly and quietly made there way across the lake. They watched over the lands that they passed, like for any form of life that could point them in a direction, but so far got nothing. They all four just stared out, waiting for a sign, any kind of sign, to show them the way to go. A burning type of smell lifted into the air, floating across the lake. All five of them lifted their noses, figuring out which way it came from. Through the woods on shore, there was an orange looking light burning through the trees, with some smoke lifting in from it. John squinted his eyes a little, trying to see if he could see anything around the fire, but so far spotted nothing. He frowned, turning his head towards his warriors. "Let us pull up quietly and see what that is. Maybe it will lead us to something." He spoke. They nodded in agreement, turning the boat in the direction of the fire they were seeing. They had no idea what they were getting into, but they knew that it was a chance to take.
They pulled up to shore, hopping out and tying the boat rope to a tree to hold the boat into place. They put their tarp over the boat to cover it, and quietly crept towards the woods. They slowly came up to the fire, and noticed that it was a campfire, but no one was there. He walked up to his warriors and whispered to where they can only hear him. "Do you think we should wait and see who comes back? Or do you guys want to go?" He whispered to them. They looked at him, thinking on what they wanted to do. "Let's stay and see who comes, maybe it will give us another lead." His higher warrior spoke up. He nodded, getting back in his place to watch and wait. A couple hours had passed, he was sure. So far no one has shown an appearance. He was starting to get frustrated all over again. What if no one shows up and this was all a waste? What if they did not get another lead like they were hoping for?
Finally, after long enough of waiting, they were getting ready to just go back to the boat and move on, until they heard a couple of men speaking. They ducked back down and getting lower than what they were the first time, as two guys walked into the clearing, wearing hunter gear. "BINGO!" he said through the mind link. They all looked at each and nodded, pushing themselves to listen to the conversation harder.
