Chapter 3

Izuku POV
"...until she disappeared." I groaned as I closed the book. *I've already read 15 books today. But I still haven't found the answer I'm searching for.* I was at the library, reading about the first Empress. Although I loathed reading and studying, history was an exception. I was particularly captivated by the first Empress and why fairies and mermaids vanished, but elves remained. And why did i- "Your Highness, it's about time to get ready for bed." I lowered my gaze to the person speaking to me. I spotted my personal maid and nanny at the end of the ladder.

The younger lady, Liliyana or Lily for short, was the one who called me, while the elder lady, Amelia, was looking at me with a big, loving smile. Amelia was my nanny, while Lily was my personal maid. She used to be my mommy's, sister Izumi's, and grandpa's nanny. And if her health holds up, she would most likely be the nanny for my sister Izumi's children. When I peered out the window, it was practically dark, and the sun had been long gone.

I closed the book and placed it on the bookshelf. I made my way down the ladder carefully. Lily picked me up as I got down, and we went to my bedroom. Lily quickly washed me, dressed me, and put me in bed. Her job was done for the night, so she was going to leave, but I stopped her. "Lily! I forgot to tell you this earlier. Stop calling me Your Highness. Princess will be easier!"

Hearing what I said, her face brightened, she smiled brightly, and she answered cheerfully, "Yes, Princess! Good night, and I hope you have pleasant dreams!" Lily became my personal maid when I was three, or more rigorously, I picked her. When I first noticed Lily, she was being harassed by other maids and kights. To get a grasp on the situation, I watched for a few minutes.

After only five minutes of listening, I could see they loathed her for no reason and wanted her gone. They even began beating her, and just as the knight was about to stab her, I stepped up and stopped them. Of course, they were fired without question. After that, Lily saw me as her life's savior and wished to serve me. She pledged to be my most loyal person and to never betray me. She would even agree to make the oath if I requested her to.

When she claimed she was ready to swear an oath, I knew she was deadly serious. The instant she broke it, her life would end. Though I knew I wanted her to be my personal maid, I told her I would reply to her request shortly. I needed someone to tell me everything that was going on around the castle, from gossip to what was going on outside the palace to the maid's deepest secrets. If I needed blackmailing material, I knew who to ask.

After she had left, I dashed to my mommy's office and asked if I might have a personal maid since I had found one I truly liked. Mommy asked for her name without hesitation and promised to take care of it. Before leaving, I told the mommy to wait a week before notifying her. Before she could ask me any questions, I flew off. A week later, Lily was officially appointed as my personal maid. On her first day as my personal maid, I told her that if she earned my trust, she could call me 'Princess.' I gave her a series of tests throughout the previous year, and she passed all with flying colors.

I smiled at Lily and gave her a sigh to get out of the room. She understood it in a mere second and left the room. "Look like you two are getting along." Amelia, who was there the whole time, finally spoke and surprised me. I forgot her existence for a minute since I was deep in thought. Amelia quietly laughed at my surprised expression. I pouted at her reaction, and she stopped. "That child did wonderfully. She is one of the most loyal people I have ever seen, and I'm happy that she was appointed as your personal maid."

I nodded in agreement with her words. It was lucky for me to save her at the time. Amelia took out a book and read me a goodnight story like she did every night. I quickly fell asleep, and just as Lily had wished, I had fantastic dreams.
