Sunday came round a lot sooner than Olivia would have liked it to. She and Ava were currently on their way to pick up Matty before they made their way to the Hale household. Although Olivia liked spending time with Matty, their time in the coffee shop being full of laughs, she was dreading the night ahead. She loved her mother but she was a pretentious arsehole at times, her father was bound to freak out about the fact that her 'boyfriend' played for his favourite football club and not to mention that they had invited her ex-boyfriend and the girl that he had cheated on her with.
Olivia walked up to the front door of the address that Matty had sent her and knocked loudly, the sound echoing through the walls of the large house. The brunette was positive that it was big enough to qualify as a mansion. It was ridiculous. She knew that footballers earned a lot of money but the guy had only just moved to the area.
"You look beautiful." Matty smiled as he opened the door and greeted Olivia, taking in her long-sleeved turtle neck and the plaid skirt that she was wearing. It almost took his breath away.
He extended his arm out and handed her a bouquet of her favourite flowers: Lillies.
"Matty, you didn't have to." Olivia smiled as she took the flowers from his hands and smiled softly at them. They reminded her so much of her childhood and she couldn't believe how thoughtful he had been, even if she had told him her favourite flower when they met earlier in the week. She couldn't recall a single time in their two-year relationship when Jordan had given her flowers. Not even for Valentine's Day.
"What kind of fake boyfriend would I be if I didn't get you flowers from time to time? Come on. We don't want to be late." He offered a smile and a hand which she gladly took before getting back into the car, Ava migrating to the back of the vehicle.
"You didn't tell me that he was hot!" Ava exclaimed as she shook hands with Matty, teasing her best friend, knowing that she would get all hot and flustered by her comment. Olivia chose to ignore the comment and instead started the car so that they could make it to her parent's on time.
The blonde watched on as the fake couple made conversation with each other and laughed at each other's corny jokes the entire way to the Hale household. Ava knew that neither of them could see it yet but she knew that they were going to fall for each other. It was only a matter of time.

"Honey! You're here!" Pamela stood at the front door with her husband, Lee, as they watched their daughter get out of the car with who they thought was her boyfriend and her best friend.
Olivia had met Ava during a dark time in her life and so the Hale parents couldn't be happier for Ava to come to dinner with them every week. She had become their second daughter.
Matty grabbed a hold of Olivia's hand, wanting to make sure that they came across as the real deal. There would be nothing more humiliating than being found out in front of not only Olivia's family but her ex-boyfriend too.
The trio entered the house and got settled in, each of them having a non-alcoholic drink for various reasons and making small talk with the family.
"Sorry, we're late!" Jordan's voice called out in the home that he had been to several times throughout the duration of his and Olivia's relationship. They had welcomed him into their home and their family with open arms and he still had the audacity to cheat on the eldest sibling.
"You know how it is with me. Always busy with rehearsals!" Jordan laughed as he entered the living room, placing a bottle of expensive champagne onto the glass coffee table as he did so.
Matty could already tell that he was beginning to annoy Olivia, her muscles tensing and her jaw clenching as she set eyes on him and his new girlfriend. He couldn't lie, the whole situation was strange but he was there to support Olivia and that was what he was going to do.
"We're all busy, Jordan." Olivia sneered and the man only narrowed his eyes at the way that she was talking to him.
"Speaking of busy, Matty has been very busy recently with training-" She started but was cut off almost immediately.
"Training for what? Online FIFA tournaments?" He laughed but no one joined in, everyone thinking that his behaviour was rather childish.
"Matty has just signed a contract for Aston Villa, Jordan," Lee spoke up from his position on the couch and sent the dancer a disapproving look before prompting the footballer to start talking about his career and his recent move to the Midlands club.
Olivia was still rather tense after the showdown with Jordan and that was something that Matty noticed so he gave her hand a small squeeze as he continued to talk to Lee and Olivia's twelve-year-old brother, Robbie.
Not long after the arrival of the Hale's guests, Pamela insisted that dinner was ready but she wasn't about to let everyone make their way to the dinner table without taking a few pictures to remember the night by, even if Olivia thought that it was a complete and utter disaster.
Pamela instructed her daughter and Matty to stand in front of the fireplace after they'd taken a group photo so that she could add Matty to the family pictures that were already scattered all around the house. With a bit of huffing and puffing, Olivia agreed and she stood next to Matty, their arms around each other as the flash went off, capturing the happy couple.
"Now I want one of you kissing!" Pamela exclaimed with excitement and Olivia nearly choked on her own spit at her words. She had never expected this level of excitement from her mother and she really wasn't sure about kissing Matty considering they were still pretty much strangers.
"You don't have to do this," Olivia spoke quietly to Matty as they stood chest to chest, the brunette playing with the fabric of his shirt and looking down at her feet. She was absolutely mortified. It was bad enough that she had dragged Matty into this situation but a kiss? That was taking things too far.
"It's fine. I've done worse on New Year's Eve." He laughed to himself, thinking about some of the strangers that he had kissed in years past.
Pamela made sure that her camera was ready and started a countdown. Olivia took in a deep breath, trying to prepare herself for what was to come and when her mum stopped counting, she felt Matty's stubble against her face and his soft lips capturing her own.

a/n: MATTY SCORED HIS FIRST ASTON VILLA GOAL!!!I have waited sooo long for him to get that goal and I'm sure he has too but it was just beautiful, wasn't it? Not to mention that the man who scored it is also beautiful but anyway... 👀
So sorry for not updating for ages (again). This schedule isn't really going to plan, is it?
I started my second year of uni recently and I'm on campus some days so I'm travelling a lot. Not to mention how full on second year is so if I thought I didn't have time last year, I've got another thing coming apparently.
Nevertheless, I will do my absolute best to give you all updates, even if they are very sporadic and I will make sure to keep writing in my drafts, even if it's just a few sentences.
How are you finding the new academic year if you're back? And if not, are you planning on applying anywhere, working or maybe taking some time for yourself?
Enjoy and stay safe!
Lots of love, e x
