Conversation
"Don't you dare touch her!"
A cold voice stated.
"Who the hell are you? This is none of you're business"
"This is my business because you're bothering my wife" ,he calmly said.
"Don't get too cocky, man"
Then Raven for the sake of it, piped up and played along. " It's true," then shows her left hand that has a ring on it.
"Whatever. You're not even pretty," and he left.
The audacity, she thought to herself.
The man went up to the counter and sat on a bar stool. She initiated the conversation.
"Well that was something. Thanks for the help awhile ago. By the way can I just pay for your drinks? For just saying thanks,"
"That's not necessary"
"But I insist"
"If you say so,"
She calls the bartender, "Excuse me. Sorry, me again. Can I have my margarita," Turns to the guy, "You?"
"Scotch on the rocks"
"And that,"
"Anything else, ma'am?"
"No, that's all. Thank you"
"So..."
"Yeah?"
"How'd you come up with that?"
"Well at first I was just planning to tell him off but I figured if I act like I know you, he'd go away"
"Why didn't you go for a friend or girlfriend? Why wife?"
" 'Cause it has a stronger impact"
"Oh. Well that was risky"
"How so?"
"What if the idiot ask for proof? Good thing I was wearing a ring"
"That's it because I saw you wearing that ring"
"That was quick thinking and a great idea. I commend you for that. Thanks again"
"No problem"
"What's your name? We've been talking for awhile now and I still don't know you"
"Oliver. My name's Oliver"
"Nice to meet you. I'm Selene"
"What brings you here?"
"The usual"
"And what's the usual?"
"Needed to release some stress and tension"
"About what?"
"Work. Familiar issues. That kind of stuff. What about you?"
"Just needed to relax"
"Alright"
Then silence enveloped them. Just staring blankly. Sipping there drinks. Until Oliver decided to break the ice.
"Are you really married?"
"Huh? Oh, no"
"So what's the ring for? Accessories?"
"Kind of"
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Well, I bought it for fun then I thought about using it in situations like what happened earlier. Who knew it would come in handy?"
"Smart girl"
"Thank you. Thank you. It's so nice to be appreciated," while bowing jokingly then laughs softly.
"You're crazy"
"I know"
He chuckles. "So are you single? "
"Are you hitting on me?" Comically raising both of her brows.
"Just answer the question. And stop that, you look ridiculous"
"Do I now? But to answer your question, I'm not single. I don't have a boyfriend but I'm also not married"
"That's confusing"
"C'mon. Take a guess"
He mumbles. "Doesn't... boyfriend. Not... single... married"
"Aha! I got it"
"So, what did you guess?"
"You're engaged. You have a fiancé"
"Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner"
"You're so silly. Are you drunk?"
"Nope"
"Look at the time. I think you should go home now"
"Alright "
"Shall I take you home?"
"Thanks for the offer but I brought my car. Besides I can still drive "
"Okay, I won't insist but drive safe"
"Thanks again. You made my night a whole lot better"
"Again no problem. Glad I could help"
"Bye, Ollie"
She turned and walks away. Leaving him.
"Goodbye, my lovely moon," whispering into the night.
