> I'm only good at math. why do i do this to myself?
"Anak, anong pakiramdam mo? (child, how do you feel?)" Ella's mom says while placing a plate of strawberries on her bedside table.
"Ma I feel fine. I've been feeling fine." Ella says with a smile.
"Are you sure? Don't lie to us ha." Her mom says with a stern look.
"I promise ma. I'm fine. I'm actually going to watch today's show." She says while grabbing the crutches that were next to her bed.
"Are you going alone again? Anak, kailangan mo ng boypren. (Child, you need a boyfriend)" Ella's mom says with a laugh.
"Ma you know I don't have time for one. I practice for like 12 hours a day. Well used to." She says with a sigh. "Anyways. Please get out. I have to change." Ella says while popping a strawberry in her mouth pushing her mom out of her room.
Ella throws on some random pair of sweatpants and a large t-shirt. She didn't really need to dress up for the show since she always sat in the balcony.
She grabs her crutches and make her way to the living room.
"How long are you going to be staying here." Ella asks her mother.
"Pag gumaling ang paa mo. (When your leg gets better)" She says while watching some random drama that was on tv.
"Ok well see you later." Ella says while she walks out the door.
Ella makes her way to the nearby Starbucks that she had been frequenting since her injury. She gets her usual hot chocolate and takes a seat near the window. She was too immersed in the life outside of the café to notice the new presence across from her.
"Earth to Ella?" a voice says that breaks her trance.
"Oh hey Chandler. What are you doing here?" She asks.
"Grabbing coffee with my friend." He says while pointing at a brown-haired male standing awkwardly, coffee in hand. "Karl come sit. She won't bite." The now named boy takes a seat next to chandler and awkwardly smiles at Ella. She returns the smile and looked back at the window to avoid eye-contact with the adorable guy she had just met.
"Are you going to watch that ballet again?" Chandler asks. Ella slightly nods while taking a sip of her drink.
"Yeah and what about it. I still like watching it even if I can't dance." She retorts. "Speaking of, I need to get going. I want to get to the opera house early." Ella finishes her hot chocolate and grabs her crutches.
Karl had noticed the girl struggling with her cup so he tried to help. He grabbed the cup from her hands while accidentally touching her hand. A light pink washed across his face but he decided to ignore it. "I can throw this away for you." He says with a smile.
"Thank you." She kindly replies. "Well I've got to head out now. See you!" With that she left the store and made her way to the opera house.
"What happened to her?" Karl asks.
"She tore a ligament while dancing a few weeks ago. I doubt she's actually coping in a healthy way though." Chandler says while taking a sip of his coffee. "I'm worried for her but she won't tell me anything."
Karl, now across from chandler, looks outside the window. "Gosh that sucks. And I'm assuming she was a good dancer. She was nice. I hope I get to talk to her more." He says with a smile.
"Aw does wittle Kawl have a cwush on my fwiend." Chandler teases.
"No! I just think she was a cool person." Karl responds defensively.
