Days came and went. Gunner kept his distance from Athena just as she wanted him to. Jax had come up to her a few days ago telling her that he was pleased about the results. The girls had become better at defense and attack. He also told her, that if she continues like this, he will let her go by the end of the month. She was both sad and happy about that. She wanted to leave so she could be safe but wanted to stay to be with Gunner and her friends. She knew that he probably was like every other biker in the mc here. Athena had seen him let that girl be all over him and she didn't want a broken heart anytime soon. Athena and Gunner had spoken short sentences and didn't do too much with each other. They did enjoy morning walks sometimes, but other than that, they said just a few words to each other when needed.
Athena was in her room, getting ready for practice with the girls. She put on a few of the newer gear she had bought together with the girls. Athena looked at herself in the mirror, turning and bending pleased with the outfit. She had gained up the weight she had lost when she came to the US. That pleased her, knowing that she was back on track. Walking out of the bathroom, Athena stood by the window and looked out. She could see Gunner play with the dogs by the water, the big smile on his lips made butterflies rush around her stomach, and unconsciously Athena laid a hand against her stomach. She had missed the long talks they had on mornings or when they just relaxed with each other, but Athena knew this was the best way to go with the situation they were in.
Walking out of her room to meet the girls outside already standing as a group made her think about something else. Some of the girls that didn't want her help looked over at them with disgust and whispered lowly to each other. Athena notice the girl that had been all over Gunner. She had a desire to go over to her and punch her face but kept herself from it. Instead, Athena turned to the girls in front of her and started the lesson in defense by ordering them all to run. Today even she joined in, feeling the need to get off some steam. Not even thinking, she chose to run the way she knew she would see Gunner and the dogs. When she finally saw them, her heart was rising faster and not only because she was running. He was down on his knees, rubbing General on his stomach while fooling around with Tie. A sweet smile was on his lips as he was all consumed by his two dogs. The other one, Scooby, was close by with his belly up on display. When they heard them running by, Scooby turned around, watching them, even stood up and ran up to Athena to run next to her awhile before deciding to go back to his owner.
"The dogs like you," Vic said with a smile. She knew what had happened between Gunner and her. Vic had been devastating to know that Athena didn't want to start anything. She thought it was a waste of good relationship material. Whatever that means but Athena had to stand her ground by not starting anything she would regret one day.
"I like them too," Athena said before going back and focusing on the track in front of her. They ran for thirty minutes more before they stopped in front of the main house again. They continue the training with some combat practice. Athena walked around, watching them all, saying things sometimes but moving along. The girls who didn't want to practice with Athena were still watching, but this time with a few bikers. Some of them watching the girls practice are probably most likely to see their progress.
