Gunner woke up with Athena in his embrace. He looked around himself and remembered what had happened the night before. The worried he felt at the thought of her leaving him was beyond everything he ever could imagine. Gunner had never been able to imagine himself falling so deeply for someone before. His heart broke at the thought of her leaving him, and he knew he needed to be careful about how he told her to stay with him.
Gunner felt her light breaths against his arm. He slowly lifted himself up to look at the sleeping woman beside him. She looked so peaceful like nothing was bothering her at all. Gunner knew her life probably felt like hell at the moment. He would do anything to take that feeling away from her.
When he felt like he was done gazing at his angel, Gunner took up his phone to text J that he would take Athena out for the day and that the dogs needed a few walks and food. He got a quick response that he would fix it.
"Angel, wake up," Gunner whispered into Athena's ear. She slowly woke up. She turned around and looked up at the tall man that was looking down at her lovingly.
"Morning," She said and leaned into him. Her lips brushed against his lips slowly. Gunner groaned as he felt his morning wood make its presence between them.
"I think I need to take a cold shower now," He growled with his morning breath. Athena couldn't help but smile. Gunner's heart jumped a bit more when he saw that smile.
"I can join you if you want," She whispered shyly. Gunner smirked even bigger and nodded. So many ways to shower popped up in his head as he made himself ready to move out of bed.
"Couldn't say no to that offer, could I?" Gunner said and, in one swift move, carried his girl to her bathroom.

A few hours later, they both had taken a warm shower. It hadn't taken them too long to get the sexy time over with, and now they had eaten up the food Jeremiah had made them. Gunner looked at his girl and knew that she was thinking about what they had been speaking about the day before. She had been quiet when he didn't come up with things to talk about, and it made him sad to see his angel like this.
"Are you ready?" Gunner asked her. Athena looked up from the plate and nodded lightly. The both of them stood up, Gunner walked over to her and took her hand. Gunner started to lead her out to his truck. He knew exactly where to take her.
Athena couldn't help but get a feeling of sadness as she thought about this being the last day the two of them would spend together. She knew exactly what she was going to do the day after. Athena was going to get up and leave the territory. She would walk into the city and take a cab to the nearest airport and get out of the country as fast as possible.
Gunner opened the truck door for Athena to get in. When she was all set, and Gunner sat in the driver's seat they drove away. Gunner had planned the date to be around an hour away. When he told Athena this she only said a weak 'oh that's nice. Gunner had prepared and taken a book with him to at least try to ease her mind on their way. That gesture made her a bit happier as she took it and started to read.
