The person who took grabbed her into the common rom said, "Miss me?" She pulled away from them to see, it was Ced. "In your dreams Diggory." Iris replied with. She hadn't seen him since their first class of the day. "Well I have amazing news 'Ris." Cedric said. "Really? What" "I'm going to the Yule Ball with Cho Chang, that pretty fifth year girl." Iris' heart shattered. To here the boy you love say he's going to a ball with someone else, and call them pretty, was the worst. She didn't mean to be dramatic but she had felt numb. She figured maybe they could go just as friends at least. "Wow! I'm happy for you." Iris replied. Even though she loved Ced she had to be happy for him. She couldn't keep his happiness away from him just so she could love him. That night at dinner Iris hardly talked. "What's wrong with you 'Ris" Cedric asked Iris. He knew something was wrong. She just shook her head and he moved on.
Iris stayed up late that night. She had to release the anger and sadness someway, somehow. So she wrote him a letter, but she would never give it to him.
Dear Cedric, how do you not see it? The way I look at you the way I stay close to you. You make me feel so safe and cozy. Today you broke my heart. I don't think I will be attending the Yule Ball. I won't be able to stand seeing you dancing gracefully with another girl. I will probably stay in my dorm reading a book. I thought I made it perfectly clear that I am in love with you. I don't know whether to hate you or love you. You have already broke me twice. You go and put your name in the Goblet of Fire without telling me and then get picked! I know that isn't your fault but it hurts me. Then you go and ask out another girl. I don't know how to show I love you anymore.
-'Ris
>fast forward to the day of the first task<
It was now the day of the task and nobody had no clue what it was. Iris was sitting there in the bleachers nervous as ever. She didn't know what the outcome of this would be. It was now time to start the first task. There was a Dragon in the stadium. Iris felt exactly how she felt when Ced's name came out of the Goblet. Cedric was first up. He had used great spells he knew to fight off the Dragon and collect the golden egg. He made it. Iris had never felt that much amount of relief. "You did it Ced!!" Iris yelled from the crowd. Cedric and Iris met up and then headed straight to the Hufflepuff common room to celebrate with the others. "Who wants me to open this egg!?" Cedric shouted. Everyone obviously shouted yes. He opened the egg to here this horrible screeching. Everyone immediately covered their ears.A couple of days had passes and it was now time for the Yule Ball. One boy in Gryffindor name Michael Roberts had asked Iris but she turned him down. "So did you get a Yule Ball date?" Cedric asked Iris. "No." "Well then you come with me and Cho." Cedric offered "No thanks." Even though Iris wanted to go she couldn't ruin his time. "Yes you are coming." Cedric demanded "Ok fine." Iris hadn't even bought a dress. It was only the morning so she decided to quickly go see what Hogsmeade had left. She picked out this beautiful creamy yellow color flowing dress. When Iris came walking down the stairs Cedric's face sat still. He was in shock. At that moment he realized he loved Iris and not Cho.
"W-Wow." Cedric said. After he said that Iris looked straight at Cho. She was looking up at Cedric aggravated. They all went into the ballroom Iris went and sat down and Cho and Cedric danced because the three, in this case four, champions had to dance first. Iris had to keep small talk with some of the other Hufflepuff girls because she couldn't bare seeing Cedric dance with Cho. She looked up at them for one second and saw Cedrics face. He looked uncomfortable. After the slow dancing Cho and Cedric made their way to Iris. "Can we go talk right quick Ced?" She looked at Cho Chang. "In private." She added. "Erm...yes of course. We won't be long Cho." Cedric replied. They both waked out into the hallway. "What's wrong with you Ced. I saw the look on your face. Are you not having a good time?" Iris asked. "No." Cedric said. "What? Why?" "I-I don't know. Well...I do, but I can't tell you." "Huh?" "Alright fine! I love you not Cho! I always have thought you were the most beautiful girl in all of Hogwarts but I thought it was just a friendship kind of connection. I know that sounds stupid but it just never clicked on me that it was a more than friendship kind of love."
"Your joking right?" Iris asked. She was so confused as to what just happened. Cedric looked at her confused and kissed her deeply. She kissed him back. "Does that prove it?" Cedric asked. "Ye-Yes. Cedric I love you too." They ran into Cedric's dormitory. "This is the boys dorm's though."Iris said. "Who cares." Cedric replied. They crawled into the bed and Iris rested her head on his chest while Cedric played with her hair. "Goodnight." Cedric said. They both fell asleep on each other.
