Chapter 5

After John B told us that the compass was his father's, I got a call from Sarah. 

Phone Conversation:

"Hey, what are you doing right now?" 

"We just got back to the Chateau. What's up?" I asked her.

"I was wondering if you wanted to come over for dinner and then sleepover?" She asked. 

"Yeah. I'll ask someone to give me a ride. I'll see you in a little." I said before we hung up.  

End of Phone Conversation

"Hey JJ, do you think you can give me a ride to Sarah's? I asked him. 

"Yeah. Come on." He said getting up from the couch. 

"We'll see you guys tomorrow." I said hugging Kie and Pope. "Call me if you need anything." I said hugging John B, kissing his cheek. 

"Thanks Katie." He said as I let go and walked to JJ who was on his bike. 

I climbed on behind him and and he started it up. I wrapped my arms around his waist, holding tight as he drove off. We were quiet the whole way there. When we pulled up tp Tannyhill, he stopped the bike so I could get off. I climbed off and I fixed my hair as I was all over the place from the ride. 

"So, are you here to see Sarah..or Rafe."

"If you must know, I'm here to see Sarah. She asked me to have dinner and then sleepover. Why you worried I might sneak into Rafe's room in the middle of the night?" I asked raising an eyebrow at him. 

"Always worried about you...especially if Rafe if involved." He stated looking at me. 

"well I'm not here to see Rafe. Okay?" I said walking over to him. 

"okay." He said like a weight was lifted off his shoulders. 

"I'll see you tomorrow. Thanks for the ride." I said kissing his cheek before backing up and heading to the front door. 

I turned to see JJ start up his bike again and drive off. I stared at where he once was for a few moments before I headed inside. 

"Hey girl." Sarah said hugging me. 

"hey." I replied as we headed into the dinning room where her family sat plating themselves food. 

We ate dinner with her family and then Wheezie, Sarah and I headed out to their boat to hangout. I had changed into one of JJ's oversized and ripped t-shirt and a pair of spandex. We were watching movies and eating popcorn on the couch. 

"So you gonna tell me what's going on?" Sarah said looking at me. 

"What are you talking about?" I asked confused. 

"I saw you....outside with JJ. I know you like him. What's going on with that? What happened with Rafe?" She asked making me blush. 

"Rafe and I...we are just best friends and it was a one time thing. JJ....JJ Maybank, the kid I have been in love with for as long as I can remember." I said blushing more. 

"so why haven't you done anything about it?"

"he doesn't like me like that Sarah. I hurt him. I left. He likes to sleep around, he's not a boyfriend type of guy." 

"I think he likes you."

"You don't exactly hangout with him all the time. He's always got girls all over him and he doesn't look at me like he used too. He used to look at me with this look that made a thousand butterflies erupt in my stomach. Now I'm lucky if he looks at me for longer than a few seconds. He used to place his hand on my thigh whenever we were sitting next to each other...now, he barely hugs me or fucking even high fives me. Any feelings that JJ Maybank may have had for me disappeared the minute I left him." I said shaking my head as a few tears fell down my face.
