Ch. 13

Later that night: I had been wandering and doing my own thing all day but I couldn't go back home so I headed back to John B's house. As I walked up, I saw the three boys sitting on the hammocks.

"I can't go home so I'm sleeping here," I said crossing my arms as I looked at John B.

"Of course. I'm sorry I..." JB started but I cut him off.

"I know," I said giving him a small smile.

"It's been a long day so I'm going to bed. Good night." I said before turning and heading inside.

"I'm going to bed too. I will see you guys in the morning for the plan." I heard JJ say.

"Use protection please." John B screamed after him. I heard the boys laugh harder so I assumed JJ flipped them off or gave them his infamous smirk.

I headed into the spare room and I put my bag down. I grabbed a t-shirt from my bag which happened to be JJ's and then threw my bag down on the ground. As I slipped my shirt off I heard the door close. I pulled JJ's shirt on as he sat down on the bed. I slid my shorts off and then headed to the bathroom that was connected to the bedroom.

"So are you going to tell me what you were doing this morning?" JJ asked me as I started brushing my teeth.

"I ran into Rafe," I said sticking my head out of the bathroom as I was brushing my teeth.

"What? What did he say? Did he do anything...I swear to god I will kill him if he touches you again." He started ranting as I spit the toothpaste out of my mouth.

"He did not touch me and I was the one that approached him," I told JJ as I saw his face turn from concern to anger. I rinsed my mouth and washed my face.

"Why the hell would you approach him? After everything he has done to us, to you?" He asked.

"JJ...Rafe has been my friend for a long time. The Rafe you know is not the Rafe I know. He's struggling right now, he's lost but I know there is still good in him somewhere. You know me, I don't like to give up on my friends easily." I said shaking my head as I came out of the bathroom and I climbed onto the bed and straddled his lap.

"I know you don't that's what I like about you. I just wish you didn't care so much about him." He said in disgust.

"Hey...I was told that you weren't that good of a person but here I am dating you. I think that...maybe I will be able to breakthrough whatever phase he is in. I just need to be there to help him. And just know, that I only like you, and I feel nothing for him. I'm only doing this because he is a really close friend and he needs help. That's all." I told him honestly.

"I know. I trust you. You're too good." He said shaking his head as his other hand gripped under my thighs as we laughed.

"Now explain to me what the plan is to get Kie and Sarah to work together?" I asked as I played with the rings on his hand.

"We are going to have John B bring Sarah on Pope's dad's boat and then lock her down below, then Pope, you and I are going to bring Kie on our boat and tell her Pope's boat is broken down and have her help us fix it. She will get on the boat and then JB and I will jump off, swim away, and then drive off and come back the next morning hoping they worked things out." He said smirking at me confidently.

"And that is going to work why?" I asked curiously.

"Cause baby, I come up with the best plans." He said winking at me as I laughed jokingly punching him in the stomach.

"You're annoying," I said as I lay down so my head was now resting on his chest and he wrapped his arms around me as he softly rubbed my head.

"What happened with your dad? You could have called me last night, I could have come to get you?" He asked squeezing me a little tighter in a comforting way.
