Chapter 1

My name is Katie Wilks. I live in the Outer Banks. There are two types of people out here, Pogues or the Kooks. Pogues are the poor, lower class who work a few jobs and do whatever you can to get by and then the Kooks are the rich ones who the Pogues work for. My family are seen as "royalty" as my dad owns like half of the island. I have an older brother Rafe's age, Chase but he's at college and now he's spending the summer with his girlfriend in Paris. My dad is best friends with the other kook royalty, the Cameron. There's my dad Ward and Rose, his step wife. Then there's their kids Rafe, he's 18. We used to be really close till he dropped out of college and started doing drugs from what my best friend his sister Sarah tells me. Then there's their youngest child Whezzie, she's 14. Sarah and I have been friends since birth. I am the rebel child and my dad's least favorite. I am my moms favorite because I wasn't ever afraid to be myself but she does what my dad says. My best friends are Pogues. There's four of them, John B, my best friend since 3rd grade, Kiara, my only real girlfriend, she's a kook too but is more a pogue than kook. There's Pope, the smartest one out of all of us. Then there is JJ, my absolute best friend. We met in kindergarten and ever since then we have been best friends. JJ and I have always had a flirty relationship for as long as I can remember. He was my first kiss when we were 10 and ever since then I have liked him.

My dad hated that I was friends with these people, always getting in trouble, so for my freshman year and my sophomore year he shipped me off with family in California for this boarding school. I haven't been back in Outer Banks in two years. I was cut off from my life there for two years and I miss it so much. I'm finally coming back. I have changed a lot since I last left. I got my braces off, my skin cleared up, my body finally filled out and blessed me with a butt and boobs. I learned how to dress. I couldn't wait to see my friends.

I woke up and I smiled when I remembered I was back in my own bed. I got up and got ready for the day. I changed into a black triangle low cut bikini top and matching black cheeky bottoms. I slipped on ripped jean shorts and I put on a white buff on my head keeping the hair out of face. I brushed my teeth and slipped on my dirty white vans. I grabbed my bag and my phone and I headed out the door. I grabbed my skateboard that was sitting on my deck and I made my way for John B's house knowing that's where they usually would have hung out. I walked up to the door knocking but no one answered. I walked in and I looked around. It looked the same. I decided to wait for them to come. The place was a mess so I decided to clean up a little bit. After a couple hours I got bored and hungry and I found a bag of chips. I plopped myself on his couch and started eating them. I heard talking and I looked up from the bag of chips as I saw all four of my friends walk in. They're talking stopped when they saw me.

"Wow. Excuse me. What are you doing in my house? "John B questioned me.

"Who are you?" Pope asked starring at me.

"What is up Pogues?" (I asked as I stood up.) "Johnny Boy, your house was a mess so I cleaned up a little bit, hope you don't mind. Kie, you look gorgeous as always. Pope, you are still so cute...and JJ, don't you look just fine." I said winking at him.

"I'm sorry, do we know you?" Kie said making me gasp as my hand went to my chest.

"Wow. I am hurt. Seriously...has it really been that long. Kinda disappointed in you guys, but don't worry I won't hold it against you as it has been two years." I said flashing them my face smirk. "Katie?" She asked looking at me confused.

"No way..Katie Wilks?" John B questioned.

"Ding. ding. ding. In the flesh". I said smiling at them.

"Omg!"she screamed running over to me hugging me making me laugh.

"Jesus Christ you got hot." John B said looking me up and down before hugging me.
