Y/n and Eren sit on the grass that was more green than usual. A blanket of silence covers them. They stare out into the sunset which seems like it was golden. Eren could help but glance at y/n to look at her, and how she made his heart flutter.

Eren absolutely thought you are beautiful. Everytime you smile and look at him it was euphoric. Nothing could compare to the way he feels when he looks at you. And he would do anything just to make you happy... anything.

It has been a year since they have finally regained Wall Maria and cleansed it from the Titans roaming. So the two seventeen year olds sat on the grass watching the sun set.

Eren tried to enjoy this moment as much as possible before he had to full fill what had to be done. He knew the future that awaited and although he didn't want to kill all those people, he would do it for his hometown, his people, his friends, his girlfriend. Y/n.

"I'm thinking about retiring..." y/n randomly says out of the blue. She glances at Eren who was still staring at her. She gives Eren a slight smile as the sun gave off the true colors in her eyes more.

Eren's heart flutters but he still shows no emotion. "Why do you think that?" Eren asks her and she sighs.

"I don't want to be fighting anymore," y/n says then lays down while looking up at the sky. This makes Eren change his sitting position to him leaning on his forearm while staring down at y/n. "because all my life I've been fighting.".

These words struck Eren more. This gave him more reason to do what he was meant to do. He wanted y/n to have freedom. "You won't have to fight, don't worry." Eren says then looks back at the sun, avoiding y/n's confusing gaze on him. "Once the time comes... you won't have to fight anymore."

Y/n was very confused and didn't get what he meant. "What do you mean? What time?" she asks and Eren still avoided her gaze.

"Don't worry about it."

Y/n still didn't know what he meant but shrugged it off and smiled. She sits up, catching Eren's attention and he looks at her, she then hugs Eren which he hugged her back. It was warm and comfortable, another moment Eren tried to enjoy. Y/n pulled out of the hug and gave him a gentle and light kiss.

"I'm going to go tell Hanji. Thanks, Eren." she smiles slightly and got up and left. Eren then got back into his original sitting position. He looks out into the sunlight once again before letting a tear stream down his eyes.
