Abba's POV

I sat with my head bowed on the iroko carved table as my phone rang continuously causing the table to vibrate.

Who is calling me at this witching hour.

I looked at the phone as an unknown number flashed through the screen.

"Hello?" I answered as the person sniffed into the speaker.

"Senator Rahman?" The female voice inquired as her voice shook with emotion.

" Yes, that's me," I clarified as she cleared her throat and began to speak.

"The Alaffin of Oyo is dead!" the woman spilled out as my phone trembled violently in my palm and the words rang loudly in my ears.

"Hello?" She called out making sure I was still there as I shook in fear.

"Innalillahi wa innalillahi rajirun,"I whispered as the woman's whimpers filled the speaker.

Allahamdilliah, Yasmine isn''t getting married to that old bastard.

" He died today by Asri and was buried during magrib,"the woman said as I felt my heart soar with joy.

Subhanallah, you answer prayers.

"May Allah Grant him jannah," I prayed as she murmured a silent amin.

"But he left a will and an instruct that must be strictly adhered to," she continued as I felt my spirit dampen with sadness.

"He said the marriage must go on but with his first son, the one that resides in the Uk," she informed as I swallowed a lump down my parched throat.

My daughter should have the right to choose any suitor of her choice, not forced into a covenant of broken vows.

I've experienced the consequences of an arranged marriage and no one should ever go through such.

" Please can I opt out of this?" I asked shakily as she laughed humorlessly.

" We'll come tommorow to see you and we'll bring the royal tailor along for her measurement," the woman instructed with such power in her voice I was forced to comply.

" One last thing, no one must know that the Alaffin is dead, I repeat no one," her voice whispered warningly as I nodded as if she could see me.

" Understood?"

" Understood," I muttered as she hung up on me.

How did I get myself into this mess?

My sleeves riled up and brought into view a deep cut but it had healed.

Time really did heal wounds but there was this wound that time couldn't heal.

Time only fueled my regret.

I shook my head in defeat as I sank into the sea of remeberance.

"Dad I can't continue this marriage, it's only Amina I love," I fumed as my dad paced around his office in silent anger.

" You are married to Safiya and her alone till death do you apart, no addition or subtraction," he commanded as his gruff voice bounced of the glass walls.

"No I'm not, Amina has given birth to my child and she's a year old," I revealed as his eyes widened in shock.

"You're lying Rahman, you already have two daughters with Safiya and she's pregnant with a boy, why would you do that to her?" He asked with fury dripping from his words as he wiped his forehead with the sweat stained handkerchief.
