Chapter Three

Cordelia tried, she truly tried, to make up a reason. A reason that could get her out of the party. She tried to use work, sleep and health as her motives. What did she not use, really? But Dabby was stubborn. She was always so, so stubborn. She would never let Cordelia miss a party hosted by Tom Holland himself. Especially when she could view how she and Cate acted in each other's presence. The brunette wouldn't be surprised if she purposefully brought them both together. Dabby was just like that, waiting for the drama to happen and be the first one to notice it.

So, there she stood, in her closet, trying to decide whether wine-red or black button-up shirt looked better on her. Dabby was no help, either. She was in her room, trying (but unfortunately failing) to choose a top. If Cordelia had to say so herself, they were in similar situations. If not the same.

For a few minutes, the brunette even considered wearing a bra only. To save her nerves for work or something else worth the time. But chose not to, as her favourite (and the most attractive) bra was in the laundry. It was unfortunate, and she had to decide between two tops herself. At last, she chose wine-red.

Cordelia put on her Doc Marten's when she realized Dabby was still in her room, blaring My Chemical Romance songs through the apartment. Luckily, the flat was soundproof.

She knocked on her friend's door with a gentle move of her wrist multiple times, but Dabby must've not heard it through the music. Cordelia decided to just step in herself. "Dabby, we're leaving-" A yellow top flew toward her face, hitting her straight in the eyes.

"Oh, shit, sorry." Dabby quickly muttered to Cordelia before bringing up two flannels. "Yellow and black or red and black?" She questioned, putting them on and off over her bralette as she did so.

The brunette let her brain process it for a moment before her index finger pointed to the faded yellow and black. Dabby nodded before pushing Cordelia out of the room. "Thankful much..." She muttered before taking the car keys and deciding to wait outside, where the sun was slowly setting.

It was beautiful, truly. The blue sky blurred with the bright orange of the sun, creating a nice gradient. The city was loud, of course, somewhat destroying some of the effects the sky had on a person. Destroying a part of its beauty. Cordelia supposed there could be no other way in a city as such. In Los Angeles.

Dabby came out of the building soon enough for them to not be late and they drove off into the bright, bright sunset.

They, at last, did arrive twenty minutes late due to Dabby. She decided she wanted to go to the bathroom in the middle of a highway, so Cordelia had to pull up into a smaller road to let the girl have her release in the bushes. It was a funny sight, as there weren't too many trees around and only wild bushes. People that passed by thought them quite odd, as much as the brunette could tell from their lingering looks.

Tom's house (or rented house, as she assumed) was quite big but not much modern. It was a lot more medieval, like a big cottage or a smaller castle. It looked elegant, like something built during the middle-ages. It had moss around its edges, as it was from stone and a lot of greenery around. It looked like from a make-believe land, like a Hobbit's hole or an elf's cottage. Like something that Cordelia would kill to live in.

Beside it, there was a huge yard, where, as it appeared, people parked their cars. There wasn't a garage in Tom's house, so it was understandable if only he parked in front of his house. Cordelia drove onto the grass and parked her car beside some nice Audi.
