Chapter 9
Cordelia's apartment was soothingly quiet. There was no music playing from Dabby's room and no guitar strumming from the balcony. Only the ghost-whispers of the previous sounds were there, but they didn't bother her anymore. Dabby flew out of the country a few days ago, so did most of the cast, but her. She still had errands to deal with, such as getting her new meds.
The brunette had come to terms with whatever was going on. There was a nagging feeling it was because of the drugs she began taking. Her mind felt clearer already, and the voices were mere whispers. Her therapist told her they might even go away for the long term. The thought of that happening made her mind jump in joy. Of course, with doubt that the meds could easily take a different turn and completely mess up her mind.
Siana told the chances were low though.
Well, the errands were done, she had no reason to stay in the apartment now. Especially when she had her family waiting for her. Cordelia turned off the light in the kitchen and took her luggage with her. She exited the apartment, locked it, and with ease on her shoulders, she stepped into the elevator.

The flight back home was quiet, as she had her jet. They landed in Nottingham, Cordelia's homeland. It was her favourite place to be after her own house in Pennsylvania. Nottingham was the place she first began writing. It meant a lot.
By the airport, she noticed her sibling waiting. They didn't particularly stand out from the crowd, but that was for a reason.
Cordelia's sibling waved once they noticed their sister approaching them. It was a long time since they've seen each other, taking their schedules into account. Mint, Cordelia's sibling, was an engineer - their schedules were barely matchable. Only during the holidays (not all, even then) could they see each other.
Mint quickly embraced Cordelia into a warm hug, protecting the girl from the harsher Nottingham wind. "Welcome home, sis."
"It's good to see you too, butthead." She chuckled, wrapping her arms around her sibling. Their hug wasn't long, as the wind began picking up its pace. Cordelia also swore that she felt small droplets of rain falling. She was not in the mood to get drenched yet.
They hurried off into Mint's car. Both were staying with their family during the holidays, as it has become quite a routine by then. The whole family, including aunts, uncles, cousins, and who not, would get together during Christmas. Only a select few didn't, but they usually had reasonable excuses. Cordelia herself felt like Christmas should be only for close family. A tight circle. Parents, and their children. But the brunette wasn't going to break this old tradition. It has been going on since before Mint was born.
During the ride back, Mint turned on some relaxing music. It was about midday, but it felt a lot closer to the night than day. Even the lamps were already on. Cordelia despised wintertime for it. The days were just too short.
Mint drove into the driveway of their mother's house and helped Cordelia with her luggage. They were always the stronger one between them. Even when they rarely worked out.
Cordelia's mother was joyous at the sight of her daughter, pulling her into a warm, motherly hug. "Dear! I am so happy to see you!"
"Goes both ways, mum." The brunette chuckled. Cordelia took off her coat and hung it once her mother let her off her hug. She slipped off her shoes and her mother, Helena, tugged her into the kitchen, offering her a warm cup of tea immediately.
