Chapter Seven
Cate knew it wasn't her place to tell. She knew that would only make Cordelia loathe her more. But then again, the blonde would never live peacefully if she ever saw the brunette hurting. She didn't want to see the brunette hurting. But she couldn't do it herself. She didn't want Cordelia hating her. Then what to do?
There was only one person that could talk to Cordelia. One person that could make sure she didn't hurt herself furthermore. One single person who could change so much.
Dabby.
She was the only one.
So, when Cate was brought to her senses, her first thought was to make sure Dabby knew. Make sure that Dabby could help or even make Cordelia visit a therapist. Someone who could help her better than anyone around her.
It was hard to reach Dabby. She was rarely on set and even on those days when she was, Dabby was distant. She was always bundled up in her office, working on something to make Cordelia's day easier. Doing some paperwork or talking with sponsors about future projects. Or maybe even sometimes planning the day. She was always busy, always buried in some kind of work.
And Cate? She was always working on set.
But even then, somehow she managed to corner Dabby on her way to her trailer one day.
It was merely a day after the blonde talked to the brunette, merely a few hours after the incident, and merely a few hours for Cate to sort out her thoughts. It was a few minutes before the lunch break ended and Dabby was heading toward her trailer with a cup of scorching coffee in her hands. Cate was walking by and at the sight of the passing girl, she quickly turned her heel toward her.
The blonde grabbed Dabby's wrist and pushed her into the nearest, empty trailer. Dabby cursed something under her nose and shook Cate off of herself. The younger girl raised her head and her eyebrows fell into a thin line as confusion washed over her.
"Hi," said Cate with a small smile playing on her lips. Her eyes were narrowed and her face was scrunched up weirdly as if she wanted to ask something.
Dabby sniffled and her nose moved up and down a few times. She stared down at the woman before her and took a few steps back, drinking her hot coffee as if it didn't bother her.
"Do you always push people around? I think the A-Tier celebrity persona is getting into your head." The girl commented as calmly as she could without bursting. It was hard as no one could control her mood bursts. It was usually Cordelia who did it, but she was nowhere to be found...
Cate shook her head and pushed back her hair behind her ears. "Uhm, no. I didn't do it to joke around this time."
The younger blonde nodded, not quite believing the other woman but carefully listening. "Go on."
"Yesterday, I think when you were asleep, I talked to Cordelia." Cate began and Dabby visibly tensed. Why didn't Cordelia tell her Cate talked to her? Protectiveness jumped up in her blood and her eyes narrowed more. "And, well, I wouldn't say she's doing well..."
"Ha! No shit!" Dabby burst out with a sarcastic cackle and rolled her eyes at the woman. "You're late to the trend. Tell me something I don't know."
"Well, I do believe you don't know this..." Cate trailed off, leaning at the wall of the trailer.
Dabby tensed again. It appeared Cate did have something else to tell her.
"Well?"
The blonde woman took a deep breath and swallowed it harshly. "Yesterday, when I visited her, I grabbed onto her wrist. I believe she hurts herself...or rather burns her wrists."
