Chapter 9

A week had passed with Tavarious being trained by Tohka. She showed him the ways she used to battle the AST to penetrate and destroy Territories and shields back then.

They arrived at the arena where Houki apologized to both Tav and Gracchus. Tavarious just accepted the apology while Gracchus chose to ignore it as it didn't really matter to him. He walked over to Chifuyu to get his gear ready for the duel.

When he eventually came out, clanking sounds of metal against ground with every step. Where an arm and leg should be, in there place where sleek black prosthetics with purple lights. Tavarious began to shake, then turned away and started to count composite numbers while breathing heavily.

Tohka stroked his back to calm him down, she continued to look at him, both of them were visibly disturbed by Gracchus's current appearance. Ichika gagged, Chifuyu gave a cold angry look, Houki was pale white, the Homeroom teacher began to cry.

Tohka only allowed Tav to turn when Gracchus was in the IS training unit.

"It's okay, it's not a body, he's alive, it's okay." Tohka said in a calming manner. "It's not the same man."

"B-b-but s-still, doesn't change the fact I scattered the remains, the kid's full body will never be found." Tavarious stuttered out, beginning to cry.

"It's okay, the family has forgiven you, you helped them before coming here." Tohka reminded.

Tav calmed down and watched the fight.

I hope you win, you look like you lost so much Gracchus. Tavarious thought.

"Last chance to grovel and apologize, then I'll forgive you." Cecilia said.

"No way in hell." Gracchus responded.

Cecilia began the fight by firing shots from her sniper rifle. Gracchus raced across the arena using the thrusters on the IS. The hands of his IS caught fire and Gracchus fired fireballs from the hands of the training model to Cecilia.

It caught the attention of everyone present. Surprised, Cecilia, blocked the attacks instead of dodging, giving the Duelist an opening. Gracchus landed a punch to the stomach before twisting around and kicking the head.

He then aggressively landed 3 more blows to Cecilia before creating a sword out of ice.

So his abilities are elemental, awesome! Tavarious thought as he watched mesmerized.

Cecilia recovered and dodged a deviating blow from Gracchus. The fins on Cecilia's IS detached and fired lazers towards the white haired boy.

He dodged the lazer fire before making a shield of ice around himself. The barrier the exploded in chunks of ice with Gracchus breaking the sound barrier in a sonic boom as he flew around, dodging attacks from the fins.

Gracchus's IS soon covered in electricity shot out a burst of lighting that destroyed all of the fins. Cecilia continued to fire her sniper rifle at Gracchus, draining his shields.

Gracchus dodged quickly as a bolt of lightning. His fist charged up a finishing blow and shattered Cecilia's shields. The Duelist landed the now smoking IS, looked at the results and roared in rage.

Cecilia Alcott wins

"That's bullshit, her shields were destroyed!" Tavarious complained.

"His IS malfunctioned, looked he can't move." A girl pointed out.

She was right, Gracchus couldn't move. Tavarious let out a sigh, knowing that was fair game. Gracchus was towed away, Tavarious walked towards Chifuyu to get his equipment along with Ichika.

"Not using an IS, can't control one can you?" Chifuyu asked.

"I can, it's just that it hurts so bad." Tavarious answered robotically.

"Wait you wouldn't be using an IS!?" Ichika yelled in shock.

"Yeah."

"But you'll be at a huge disadvantage, I got my own personal IS!" Ichika exclaimed.

"I know." Tavarious said. "But I will at least make an attempt to beat you."

"Well I wish luck to you both." Chifuyu said.
