Chapter 4

Kori’s POV

It’s about three o’clock in the afternoon and I’m on my way to my therapist’s office. He is such a nice man. His name is Dr. Harper. I have been seeing him since I moved back five years ago and he has really helped me progress. He knows the truth about me and he couldn’t be any more kind about my situation. He knows everything about my relationship with Jeremy too. He doesn’t know however, that I have recently reconnected with him, using my new identity.

I think he will be interested to learn about this new development. I also need to talk to him about that crazy dream I had last night. My thoughts are disrupted as my phone starts to ring inside of my purse. Grabbing for it blindly, I clutch it in my hand, and answer without looking at the id. Holding it up to my ear, “Hello?”

“Hey, Liz?” The familiar voice makes my heart stop and then pick back up at a fast pace.

“Hey Jeremy. What’s up?”

“Nothing much. I was just wondering if you wanted to hang out later or something.”

“Yeah. That sounds fine. What were you thinking about doing?” I am so excited that he called and he wants to see me, however I’m unnerved because of that dream.

“How about grabbing some take-out and settling in for a movie or two?”

“Sounds great. How about I swing by your place in an hour or two? I’m just on my way to an appointment.” I really didn’t want to tell him that I was going to see a therapist. He might think that I’m crazy or something.

“Alright. Let me give you my address. Do you have a GPS?”

“Yup.” I listened as he went on to tell me what his address was and told me that it was about a twenty minutes or so from work, right outside the city limits. I then hung up just as I was pulling into the medical plaza parking lot.

Walking into the office of Dr. Harper, I stop at reception and let the receptionist know that I have arrived for my appointment and then go to sit on the sofa that is located against the opposite wall of her desk. I pull out my phone and decide to finally return Mr. Gilliam’s call, the man that I appointed as the CEO of the newspaper, at least until I decide to take over again.

After about three rings I hear him answer in his cheerful voice, “This is Mr. Gilliam.”

“Hi Mr. Gilliam, this is Kori. I’m just returning your call.”

“Yes Miss Willis. I was just calling to let you know how the paper is doing this month and I wanted to see how you were doing out there in California.”

“I’m fine, thank you for asking.” I smile at the man’s politeness. “How is everything going at the paper?”

“Everything is fine. There was a new photographer hired. A Mr. Jeremy Camps. He’s only been with us a few days, but I have yet to hear any complaints from Mr. Reynolds or the columnist that he’s working with, Miss Elizabeth Chambers.”

“Well that sounds wonderful. Have you seen any of his work?”

“Yes. Garrett, Mr. Reynolds, sent me his portfolio before making the final decision of hiring him. It is quite good if I may say.” He chuckled. “Other than that, our profits have raised by twenty five percent in this month alone. People seem to be really enjoying the paper.”

“That’s good news Mr. Gilliam. I’m very glad to hear it. Is there anything else we needed to discuss, or will you just send me the projections like normal?”
