"Hela get the god damn hell up please, it's almost four a clock and your still sleeping. What were you doing last night you weren't even out that late?"
God Tony's blabbering destroys my freaking eardrums.
The memories of last night wash through my brain.
The carnival, sharing cotton candy, the merry go round.
I jolt awake as an ice cold shiver slivers down my spine as i replay the kiss in my head.
"Hela! I mean it!" Tony's voice snaps me back into reality. Geez, thanks a lot.
As i'm changing into some denim shorts and a pullover hoodie i hear my phone buzzing on my bed.
It's Peter.Come ovr, Mae's cooking larb. We can watch a movie.
I'll be there :)Ew. I hate larb. Oh well, the larb wasn't what i was really concerned about...
Peter and I hadn't talked about the bus stop kiss or even the carnival. It was like it had never even happened. I mean, did he mean for it to be a one time thing? Like maybe a goodbye kiss? Nope, didn't feel like a fucking goodbye kiss to me.
It felt more like a 'Hello let me fuck with your brain and let you create a billion different possible outcomes of that night instead of just talking about' it kind of kiss. Peachy.+++
"K i'm going bye love you mhm byeeeee!" I holler walking out the door.
"Woah woah woah hold up. Haha nice try. Where are you going?" Tony stands in the door frame, blocking my way out.
"I'm going to Kates house, i won't be gone long" i smile as innocently as i can.
"Who the hell is KaTe? And why is this the first time i'm hearing about it?"
"Tony, i'm almost sixteen, i'm pretty sure i can handle a night out without dying." I exclaim.
"Hey! You have no idea about all the sketchy shit that goes on during night time. If you die i get to say i told u so" he grinned.
This is honestly what i have to deal with every time i try to leave the house, even if it's the middle of the freaking day!
"I'll be fine T. I promise." I assure him, ducking under his arm and heading out through the lobby and onto the busy street.
I boarded the 7pm train and sat down in the corner seat with my headphones blasting Guns n' Roses probably a little too loud for my eardrums liking.
Little beads of sweat rested on my stomach, sticking my light blue baggy shirt to my waist. My black denim shorts clung loosely around my middle and my nikes tapped lightly to the beat of the song.
Honestly, for a rich kid i wasn't exactly the fanciest. Comfy before fancy, obviously.
I lowered the volume of the music as the train pulled up to my station.
I have like, zero spacial awareness so blasting music at full volume while walking over a train gap probably wouldn't be my smartest move.
It was a short walk to Peters house from the station. Not that i'd ever been there before, he just sent me an exact map of how to get there. God he's a dork.
12... 13... 14... 15- Wait no god dammit it's fourteen.
I retraced a few steps and walked up the wobbly stone path to number 14.
My heart was pounding a little faster as i reached the door not gonna lie.
I must have stood there, staring at the door for at least three minutes before softly knocking on the door.
Nothing.
I raised my fist to knock again when the door opened to reveal a very shirtless Peter Parker.
"Oh hey, sorry i just had a shower" he laughed nervously.
"Hi-" i spoke, dragging my eyes away from his abs.
"Are you, speaking to me or my chest?" He looked me in the eye winking.
"What?"
"Eyes up here darling."
"Oh shut up your not that good looking." I smirked.
He moved out of the way so i could come inside and headed down the hall.
We passed what must have been hundreds of photos covering the walls on both sides of the hallway. I slowed down to look as Peter walked ahead.
There was one that caught my eye. A younger Peter, maybe about five or six, gazing up at the camera. He had a yellow teddy clutched tightly in his arms and his smile seemed to reach his eyes.
I couldn't help but smile a little as my eyes were drawn to other pictures of younger, smiling pictures of Peter.
He appeared at the end of the hallway again, this time with a shirt and started walking towards me shaking his head.
"Mae really won't let me take any of these hideous baby pictures down." He laughed
God that laugh made me smile.
"No they're adorable... what happened?"
"What do you mean?" He looked at me skeptically.
"You were adorable, what the hell happened?" I burst out laughing.
He opened his mouth as his face read shocked all over and gasped. He stood there for a clean second before thinking up a good enough response.
"Well... thats not very nice." He said, desperately trying to keep a straight face.
"Really Pete? Thats the best response you could come up with?" I laughed harder, placing my hand on the wall so i didn't topple over in laughter.
"Think its funny do you?" He grinned and reached out to my waist.
Before i knew what was happening he had me locked in his arms and tickled my sides until i was literally on the floor wheezing, trying to catch my breath.
"Okay! Peter PETER! Okay i forfeit!" I squealed.
"Haha! Now you try and act all innocent." He said, but still let go and let me breath again.
He reached out his hand to help me up but i shook it off and stood up on my own. He lead me further down the hall to where a delicious smell erupted from a small stove.
A tall, brown haired woman with beautiful, kind eyes stood behind it, headphones draped around her neck.
"Hey Mae, this is Hela." Pete waved at me, almost hitting the top of my head.
"Oh your gorgeous! No wonder Peter's been talking so much about you!" She came over and embraced me in a hug. I couldn't help but feel my cheeks go a little warm. I never really know what to say after a compliment. Are you supposed to say thank you or think of something nice to say back?
I smiled at her and said hello. She seemed amazing, no wonder Tony used to talk about her a lot.
We stood and talking in the kitchen for a bit before me and Pete ending up in his room. He sat leaning against a chair while i was on his bed.
I discovered a small teddy hidden amongst his pillows and immediately started treasuring it. We talked for ages before Mae brought in food. Then we talked and ate for ages.
Whenever i'm with Peter we manage to find endless things to talk about, no conversation ever gets boring for us.
We ended up both on his bed, leaning against the bed frame and watching a movie.
We were halfway through watching Grease when Pete got up to use the bathroom. He was taking his time so i got up from the bed and wandered carelessly around his room.
A little door on his roof caught my attention and curiosity got the best of me. I grabbed a chair and wheeled it towards the door.
Carefully standing on the seat, i pushed the door open and looked inside. There really wasn't much to see, just a bunch of dirt, dust-.
The silver case rested on the edge of the small attic space. I know i shouldn't be snooping but i've seen cases like this lying around stark industries on countless occasions.
And if Peter's stealing from us then i ought to know. I grabbed the case and pulled it down and onto the bed.
Carefully opening the latches i lifted the lid.
There, gleaming back at me was the suit.
Not Tony's suits, not any of the other avengers suits... i mean spiderman's suit.
No, no, no, it's impossible. If Peter was spiderman... then that meant he knew that i had tried to commit suicide... on countless occasions.
I felt my heart start to beat faster and the air i was breathing thin. I was having a panic attack.
The sound of the door handle turning forced me to turn around, my air still lessening.
"Hey Hela sorry i had to-"
Peter dropped the candy bars in his hands and slammed the door shut. He shoved past me, grabbed the suit and shoved it back into it's little hiding place.
I felt my heart beat faster and my breathing pace increase. He turn around towards me, his eyes fiery. I've never seen him like this before.
He grabbed my shoulders and shook me roughly.
"Are you insane! What the hell do you think your doing?! If Mae freaking walked in!" He whisper shouted in my face.
I couldn't hear him, i couldn't hear anything. My breathing was getting worse and it felt as though my heart was fall through my chest. I was scared. He knew. He knew my secrets.
He suddenly stopped shouting and his eyes met mine. He saw the fear and panic in mine and loosened his grip on my shoulders, but still didn't let go.
We looked each other dead in the eye before he started talking again. I still wasn't paying attention until i spoke up.
"Why did you save me?" I whispered so softly i didn't think he heard.
He stopped mumbling and pity shone in his bright eyes.
"What?"
"You know what i said" i replied, still whispering. I looked down at the floor, unable to look at his face anymore. I wasn't sure if i wanted to hear his answer or not.
He sat me down on the bed and wrapped his arms tightly around me and whispered into my ear "because you were worth saving."
I wasn't sure if it was his words or his breath on my skin that made me shiver.
"I promise you that i will explain everything... just not tonight... please not tonight." He said softly, rubbing small circles on my back.
We stayed like that for ages before my phone started buzzing wildly in my back pocket. His arms left my back as i read through the billions of messages from Tony.
"Oh no.." i whispered, mainly to myself.
"It's okay.. you can stay here tonight if you want." He said gently, already knowing it was Tony.
I didn't say anything, just sent Tony a short message saying that i'd stay with Kate tonight.
I was exhausted, and i think Peter could tell. He turned off the lights and lifted me up into his arms before resting me back down under the covers.
He resumed Grease to where Danny and Sandy were singing on a bench or something and played with my hair with his thumb softly. His hand found my cheek and he ran his thumb gently up and down the side of my face.
I felt safe as i let my eye lids droop.
I heard the ending of Grease and him putting his laptop away before i felt his strong arms around me again. My tears wet the back of his shirt as he rubbed circles on my back.
We lay there in silence before he whispered "i'm so sorry love."
And then i fell into a restless sleep filled with dark, terrifying nightmares, and Peter, muddled up amongst them.
