Y/n stands there. Her back facing the door Jimin walked out of. She does not have what it takes to look back. She just stands there.

The worn out cloth she once held in her hand was long forgotten. The brown bag she was clutching, is what mattered. But then again, is she in the position to open this gift? Sure, it is meant for her. Though is it correct to accept this gift from her ex-boyfriend?

'You know what— screw it!'

What can possibly go wrong? It's just a gift like the necklace Taehyung gave her, right? A gift. With a whole lot of courage and a little more of a quick questionnaire, she opens the bag. As if on an instinct, she drops on her knees. The brunette feels her heart squeeze. His gift may not be as expensive as the necklace but it weighs more, in emotions.

Y/n carefully picks a bracelet with purple beads spelling out— Only for You. A contorted chuckle escapes her lips on seeing the photo, which adds sense to the inscription on the bracelet. It is a picture of y/n, ever so lively holding a sulky Jimin's hand, showing off the bracelet she made for him. Y/n can hear their giggles ringing through the photo.

"Jimin just stop it!" Y/n rolled her eyes and continued to work on the bracelet. It was in vain when all she did was snicker her ass off. "Oh, you are beautiful, y/n. It's like God took his leisure time to make you and ask the angels to accentuate those crests of the smile on your face. He must have stolen the moon's independent light to give your eyes that bright mischievous spark."

"Oh. Why is that?" She cocked an eyebrow refusing to look up at the sly smirk, she knew must have been idly laying on his lips.

"Um you know, to kick away the dullness in my life and reflect your life through me. You know just how the sun shines even at night but through the moon, claiming it as it's own." She did not know how she should have reacted but she swore she snorted seeing the crazy fascination in his eyes.

"I swear to god, Jimin. You are the biggest cheesiest flirt ever. If you're actually trying to woo me, you got to try harder than that buddy or maybe lower the cringe intensity." She laughed, still unable to believe he really said those words. "But till then...stay away dude!"

"I was kidding y/n. We're friends. Best friends. And nothing can change that." Jimin dramatically took a pledge placing his hand on his heart. "Ok shut up! Now stretch your hand..."

"I am cheesy? What the fuck! I so hate you, Choi Y/n." Jimin's bottom lips jutted out after reading the letters on the bracelet. "I take my words back. I hate you very much." "Oh you love me...say cheese!" Y/n held his hand and took a picture.

Y/n chuckles as a tear slips, she had no control over. " 'I am cheesy', 'only for you' ", it did not sound so bad or incomplete now. She smiles. Y/n sits on the cold floor leaning her head against the door. Her fingers traces the colourful papers. Artistically made attractive. But there is one dull and untouched white paper among these glee radiating papers. It replaces the smile on her face with a scowl. She saves it for the last to read.

"So here goes nothing...

Happy Birthday pumpkin? princess? baby? love? y/n? Yeah happy birthday y/n!

If you are reading this letter then let me tell you. It's from your boyfriend from first year. Jimin! Unless you had another boyfriend, well I hope you did not."

A stupid adoring smile curves on her lips mouthing an 'idiot' to herself.

"Um I really do not know if we will be together till then. (fingers crossed, I hope we make it)

The whole point is, I know I will have started being an asshole right after."

"Yeah a big one!" She sniffles, giggling through her tears.

"But y/n I really, really like you. When we started off as friends, I had this sudden attraction towards you. Well I was stupid not to recognise it immediately..."

Y/n sniffles reading his letters from the past years. Yeah, he was stupid but cute. She laughed agreeing with him at his behaviour at times and crying incessantly, reminiscing the warmth of their relationship. It was so good. What did she do wrong? Why did he have the need to hide her? Was she not enough to satiate the show world? Did he really care that much about what the other's had to say rather than their togetherness?

She wipes her tears and opens the last letter. The dull white one. She takes a deep breath, preparing herself for whatever and opens it.

"Happy Birthday Sweetheart...

Uh, I don't know if I have the right to call you that but, I think you should know. I know I made you question yourself. Not once but everytime you walked into the cafeteria or the classroom or anywhere else. I hid you from my friends and everyone else. Let me tell you this— there is nothing wrong with you Cutie. You are the best. One of a kind.

And don't. Ever. Dare to think you are imperfect. Cause your imperfections are absolutely perfect in my eyes. Maybe, I am crossing the line here after what I did but I love you y/n. I LOVE YOU.

I think it was good that we drifted apart. You were too good for me anyways. You are too good for this world.

I wish I could go back in time and change my dumb head before taking that step, messing it all up for us. Or better, if I stopped you from falling in love with me, but all I can do here is say— SORRY. I'm sorry for everything Sweetheart. For biding you inside that Janitor's closet. For hurting you. For giving you hopes to dream I can never fulfill.

I don't think you want to see my face but for the last time, before we graduate...would you like to see the fireworks this New Year's Eve? Like how we used to do every year earlier. Just a minor change though, as friends. It's okay if you don't to though I'll be waiting if you ever change your mind :)"

Y/n felt an uneasy breath trapped in her chest. However much she tries, she can not let go. By the dried tear stains on the paper, she could tell the ravenette had written the letter overnight. He is sorry. Faces lie, emotions don't. The tears stains definitely spit the truth. Her chest aches. She feels burdened with something.

They need to talk.
