Y/n stands in front of the mirror. A hand running over her neck, examining the hickeys that splay on her pale skin. In the past days, things has gotten too heated and ends with the duo being awkward, falling victim of the deadly silence.
No, they never get past any of their make out session. Fortunately, but painfully they keep themselves under control. But this one thing— it never got clear, as to why Jimin encloses himself from y/n. Not meeting her gaze at some points, even.
Thankfully, the brunette does not interrogate him further, pushing him out of his comfort zone. That's what they are around each other, comfortable. Or perhaps, tricked. Tricked, by their emotions. Tricked by certain affairs.
Y/n questions herself, where this is going, as she touches one of the fresh reddish mark over the fading ones. Everyday it is getting more complicated. Neither does the blonde accepts his desires nor does he push them.
They are somewhere in the middle. Hanging on a thin delicate thread. One heavy step and they will fall apart.
She shrugs the thoughts and does her night routine. "Tomorrow is an important day. Focus on that and everything will be in tact anyways..." She reassures herself.
| 03:25 P.M.
"Tae, where is he? I can't see him..." y/n's eyes did not seem to rest even for a second. They are all panicky, not because she was scared of performing in front of dozens of people. No, that is the least of her problems right now. It is because a certain blonde has not shown up yet.
"Maybe he is stuck in traffic? Y/n, come on up. You're lined up next."
"But Tae, he promised. He should be-"
"...put your hands together for Choi y/n!" It is too late, the host already called out her name. She has to go upstage. A mere frown permanently etches on her forehead, at least for the beginning of the performance. She bows before taking her seat at the grand piano.
'This is it y/n. You can do it!' She breathes in and out till her hands gently tap the keys. Her fluent nimble fingers seemed to have memorized each chords and notes perfectly. The angelic sound soothes the audience, yet the effect ever so powerful. Each notes holding onto a person sitting in the auditorium.
The brunette successfully creates her own magical land. A bound spell casting on the residents which broke only when y/n's fingers left the black and white tiles.
Y/n opens her eyes, squinting it a tad at the bright light falling directly into them. She scans the auditorium, yet no sign of Jimin. She sighs. It is okay, right? It's not like he is committed to her. It is just a promise. Promises are meant to be broken. Isn't that it? Just like that y/n finds herself tossing other weird thoughts to block her head.
☕
It was silent till the end. Both the girl and her best friend sit on random seats in the empty auditorium, not far from each other talking about their performances.
"Y/n, you totally deserved it. Your composition was so original", Taehyung complains, hands lazily falling on his lap. "Thanks Tae, but you heard it- people prefer pop songs. My song was...'boring'!" Y/n groans, staring at the ceiling lights.
"Sure, true feelings are 'boring' and some petty noise is defined as music. Where's the spirit?"
"What's done is done Tae, not like it was an unfair judgement. It was fair and square, that guy was good-" Y/n takes out her phone at the ding of a notification. "Who is it y/n?"
"It's Jimin. I guess he wants to meet me at the Grande Hall—?"
"That's upstate, y/n. You're gonna drive alone this late? I'll come with you." Taehyung slurs, tired from the day's activity.
"Thanks"
☕
Upset, the sky drizzles rain on a fairly unwanted day. "I hate driving when it rains", Taehyung babbles taking a turn at y/n's favourite place, Boba Sips and there it was, the Grande Hall across the street. Taehyung parks the car and hops out of it.
Somehow the setting doesn't quite fit the blunette's positivity. Unlike y/n, who seems to forget everything and is happy about finally being able to meet Jimin.
Why will he call y/n to the Grande Hall at this hour, that too uptown? Which idiot will do that? Unfortunately, this whole thing is not proving to be a good omen for Taehyung.
"Y/n, are we at the right place?" He asks to which the brunette easily answers with an obvious yes. Taehyung examines the place what seems like a huge party hall. It was crowded for a casual meeting like this, he presumes. Something seems off. People present there are all dressed formally.
What is going on? Taehyung questions himself till he reads the board sticking up at the entrance. Before he can grab y/n and leave, it is too late. The brunette was already standing right behind him, reading those familiar bold letters off the board.
Jimin and Minseo's Engagement.
That was it. Y/n stills under the rain with a blank expression. It can be some other Jimin, some other Minseo, her head voice reasons. "Y/n let's go", Taehyung says softly.
"No, I came here to see Jimin. Have I seen him? No right?" Y/n pushes the blunette aside, striding towards the french windows so she could see everything, clearly.
What meets her eyes is enough for her to stumble back. "Y/n please, let's leave!" Taehyung forces but it was as if the girl lost all abilities. To hear, to walk, to think, everything gone. Jimin is there, upfront sliding a ring on Minseo's finger.
The brunette stands there with Taehyung's help. The pain decipherable from her blank face. She would not have moved until the blonde made an eye contact with her through the glass. "Y/n!" She hears her name while the blonde scampers past the questioning gazes perhaps from his relatives.
Her legs instinctively turns in the direction of the car parked across the street. Running towards it. A burn all so familiar prickling at the back of her eyes. "Y/n, please stop!" It was Jimin chasing after her with Minseo catching up a little later.
"Let me explain..." Y/n stops. Her fists clenching at the sides, unable to face the blonde just yet. Taehyung comes to her, facing Jimin.
"I was going to tell you-"
"By calling her to your engagement? Sorry Jimin this is not the best way to tell her." Taehyung snaps, pushing the blonde when he was about to touch y/n. "I never called her!"
"I did." Minseo blurts out proudly coming from behind him. As if she has done some noble deed. "She needed to know. You needed to know, Jimin. You were always associated me and always will be. And she needs to understand, she was just a fling of yours and nothing more!"
It was better unsaid. Saying it out loud only makes her heart ache. 'She was just a fling!' These four years were in vain. It never made sense, never will.
"Y/n, please let me explain..."
"Did you know about this when you asked me out?" Y/n finally turns around, head hanging low. "Answer me." She lifts her head. Tears prominent even in the rain water trickling down her cheeks. "Y/n-"
"For fuck's sake, just answer me Park Jimin!" Hell, he hated his name coming out of her mouth with such bitterness. Though, he deserves it. He has earned that hatred. "Yes", that feeble whisper hits the brunette louder than anything that will ever exist.
Why is she even standing here? In front of that person, for whom she is nothing more than another chick. This is their relationship, she was a fling.
Without saying a word, she crosses the street, leaving behind Jimin and the fucking relationship they once shared. This is how it all ends.
Now it is all, Jimin and Minseo.
No y/n.

Whoa, I was surprised too. Two minutes of silence for the broken couple '_'
