I thought he forgot about me.

I waited for an hour past the time he told me before he finally arrived. In all the time I waited for him, I was able to change my outfit three times, and  do my makeup, hate it, wash it off, then reapply. I decided on a black dress, cinched at the waist to emphasize my figure, matching black sandals, and very natural makeup. Needless to say, I felt good.

"Do you want me to answer the door? I'll tell him you've changed your mind," Asuma offered after another round of loud knocking.

"You better not," I told him, rolling my eyes. Sure, he was late, but I didn't mind. Maybe he got caught up doing something?

I crossed the living room to the door and opened it, doing my best to hide my family, who were standing very close behind me, from view.

"Hey, Sasuke."

"Are you ready to go?" He asked.

"Yes-"

"No," my father chimed in from behind me.

"Dad," I mumbled.

My father forced open the door, bringing him, Asuma, and Kurenai into view.

"It is very rude of him to not come in and formally meet your father," my dad said, taking a drag from his pipe.

"And your big brother," Asuma chimed in.

I rolled my eyes. Could they be more embarrassing?

"Would you like to step in, Sasuke?" I asked with a twinge of annoyance in my voice.

"Okay," He said, coming inside.

"Sasuke, this is my father, my brother, Asuma, and his girlfriend, Kurenai. But you already knew that," I added.

"Nice to formally meet you," Sasuke nodded, sounding anything but pleased to meet them.

"Dad, can we go now?" I begged, not wanting to be more embarrassed.

"Not so fast. Where do you plan on taking her, Uchiha?" Asuma asked.

"Miyazaki's," He answered simply.

My brother looked impressed. "Expensive."

"(Y/n) deserves nothing less."

I felt my heart flutter.

"What time will you have her home?" My dad asked.

Sasuke looked at me, an undecipherable look on his face.

"Well I don't want to spoil our night by giving the details, but everything I have planned should be done at around 11:00."

"11:00?!" My dad scoffed. "No, that is much too late. (Y/n) needs to be home by 10:00."

"Dad," I groaned in annoyance.

"10:30, take it or leave it," my dad said.

"Fine! We'll take it. Can we please go now?"

Dad folded his arms over his chest and looked Sasuke over meticulously.

"You may go."

Finally.

"Bye, dad, I'll see you later."

"Take care of my daughter," my dad called after us as we started to leave.

Sasuke looked back at him and gave him a curt nod.

The silence between us while we walked to the restaurant was suffocating. Was there really nothing for us to talk about?
