"(Y/n), your father is here."
I groaned loudly as I rolled over in my bed. Pulling the blankets up over my head so that my whole body was covered, I closed my eyes again and tried to fall asleep once more.
"(Y/n)!" I could hear Akumu knocking at my door.
She was the leader around here. The director was her proper title, though. Akumu ran a tight ship at our group home program. I had been here for about ten months and was definitely ready to leave. I was tired of hearing her early morning bitching, and fighting with the other girls. I just wanted to go home. It had been too long.
I made no attempt to cover the next dissatisfied groan that left my mouth.
"Come on, get up. I told you to start getting ready half an hour ago!" She yelled. I didn't respond. "That's it, I'm coming in."
In an instant, I sprang out of bed with a nervous smile on my face as she stepped in.
"Good morning, Akumu-san!" I said with an ungraceful bow.
Her forehead creased as she gave me a once over. "Why aren't you dressed?"
"I am."
"Pajamas are not real clothes."
"Says who?"
"Get dressed, (Y/n)," She sighed. "I'll be waiting in the den with your father."
"Okay."
She left my room and I started getting dressed. I put on the really loose clothing and oversized hoodie I was given when I got here, and packed up the few items I had brought with me. I made sure to grab the plastic bag that contained my hospital wristband and various pictures from the month before. I also grabbed the medication I was prescribed and tossed it into my duffle bag.
I took one last look around the room I had called my own for these long months before leaving.
"Aw, (Y/n), you're leaving?" Hana, one of the other girls, that lived here asked with a less than sincere frown.
The other girls in the lounge with us paused to look.
"Finally."
"Byeee!"
"Thank God."I rolled my eyes as I listened to their responses. I know it's a strong word, but I truly hated each and every one of them.
"Oh, suck my dick," I mumbled, giving them all the finger.
"I'm telling Akumu-san!!" One of them threatened.
"Be my guest." I shrugged. As I walked away, I wanted so desperately to kick them all in their stomachs, but I knew that was wrong so I just left without another word.
"Oh, finally you're here!" Akumu-san smiled as I walked into the den. "I was just telling your father about your time here."
My dad sat in the chair nearest to the door. He didn't make eye contact with me when I sat across from him.
"Hey, dad," I said softly.
He gave me a barely audible grunt of acknowledgement.
I drummed my fingers on the coffee table to fill the awkward silence.
Akumu-san seemed to sense it too, because she said, "Well, it was very nice to have you here, (Y/n). You've come a long way, hm? I'm proud of you." She gave me a tight hug.
"Well, we should get going," my father cleared his throat as he stood up.
Akumu-san let go of me so I could also stand up.
