I will never get over the rush of jumping out of a moving train. I had just gotten back from taking my aptitude test. Not surprised but more than happy that my result was dauntless. I run into the dauntless compound and go straight into the apartment that i shared with my dad. Dauntless leader Franck. He is Max's right hand. His partner in crime you could say. He also mentored, when needed, Eric. Who i despise with all my heart.

I unlock the door of the apartment with my key and push it open. Once i'm in i stumble back when i see my dad, Max and Eric all sitting in the living room reading some sort of papers. I close the door behind me as softly as i can so i can go straight to my room unnoticed. No such luck.

"Haze Sweetie how did the aptitude test go?" You expect Dauntless leaders to be strict and harsh with their kids but not my dad. I never gave him a reason for him to be or act like a leader around me. Follow the rules, never question anything, and last but most important stay out of dauntless business. Three simple rules to follow. Ever since my mom passed away, me and my dad have been inseparable.

"It went well, i would tell you my results but you know the rules and we all know what I got so .." I say walking over to the living area. Both Max and my dad look at each other smiling. Without realizing it i get a glimpse of the stack of papers on the coffee table. 'Erudite' was in big blue letters across the flawless white cover.

"When the time comes you'll be able to learn about what that stack of papers is about" Max's voice snaps me back to reality. I look up at him curious to what he meant "Shooting for first place, am i right?" His stare gets even more intimidating.

"Yes sir, that's the plan" I answer standing a bit more straight. It wasn't a lie i have spent training and working my ass off every day ever since i turned 14 after school on my own. I need to be ranked first and i need to become a leader.

"Good" Max smiles and goes back to reading the papers on his hands. The phone rings and my dad gets up to answer, patting my shoulder when he passes by me.

"So you're staying? I thought you were going to transfer to abnegation. Are you sure you got dauntless as your result?" I look at Eric wrinkling my nose in disgust. How dare he say I belong in abnegation?! I don't have nothing against them but i will never become a stiff.

"Shut up transferred" Oh how i wish i could slap that smirk out of his stupid face "you're lucky Four didn't want to become a leader if not you wouldn't be sitting here, since you were after all ranked, what was it? second? Four, a stiff, beat you to first place? so i would stay quiet if i were you" Max chuckles and shakes his head, Eric stops smirking and shoots me a death glare. Now it was time for me to smirk.

"what makes you think you'll be ranked first?" Eric puts the papers he was reading down and crosses his arms, waiting for my response.

I smile and lean closer to him "Because when i set my eyes on something, i don't stop until it's mine"

I smile wider and move away from him. My dad walks back into the living room and takes a sit on his favorite sofa once again. "Well i'm going to go get some rest, big day for me tomorrow" I walk over to my dad and kiss him in the cheek

"Okay sweetie, see you tomorrow morning" He answers not taking his eyes away from the papers.

"Goodbye Max" I makes sure to walk behind the couch where both Max and Eric are sitting on. "Goodbye Haze see you soon" Max replied, also like my dad not taking his eyes off of the paper he was reading. Once i'm behind Eric, i take the opportunity to smack him in the head. I quickly walk away pleased with myself. I have always wanted to do that. Ever since i met him.

Once i'm in my room i get comfortable by changing into my pajamas, laying down on my bed and turning on music, making sure it wasn't so loud that it would bother my dad and Max, i could care less if it bothered Eric. I don't know how but i managed to fall asleep before it was even dark outside. Enjoying the last night in the comfort of my own bed and room. I'll be back eventually when initiation is over but while it's still in full swing i had to share a room with other initiates. Fun.
