"Haze? Can we talk in private?" He asks as soon as he reaches us. I frown a little once I see the look on his face. Something's up, and i can't help but feel like it was something bad.
"um Sure" I turn to look at Dylan "Talk to you later?"
He smiles and nods his head once "See you later" He keeps walking to the dinning room leaving me and my dad alone.
He clears his throat and turns around. We walk to his office in silence. Knowing by the way he stares ahead absently like his mind is somewhere else, something is bothering him. I was dying to ask him what it was, but i knew better not to. It was best not to bother him when he's like this.
We finally arrive at his office and he opens the door letting me go in first. I take a seat on one of the chairs in front of his desk. My dad takes a seat in front of me leaving the door wide open. Was he waiting for someone else?
"How was your first day of training?" He was beating around the bush, like he always does. But i decided to go along with it.
"It was good. We didn't do much today, but tomorrow we'll surely pick up the pace." I try to force a smile but fail miserably. Just then Eric walks in closing the door behind him. Are you serious? this better not be about what happened earlier today.
"Sorry I'm late" He quickly takes a seat next to me a little out of breath
"It's fine thanks for coming Eric" My dad has his hands intertwined and resting on his desk "First of all you're not in trouble honey so you can relax."
Am I that readable? I try to relax in my seat but I still can't fight the sensation I always get when he's about to tell me something bad "Then why am i here?"
"You're here because your safety is in danger" I just noticed how worry was written all over his face.
"My safety? Why am I in danger?" I frown confused to why my safety would be in danger. I have never hurt anyone or given someone a reason to hate me. So I don't understand how someone would want to hurt me?
"While overseen the dauntless born fighting I heard a group planning to get you back for stealing the chances of becoming a leader from them." Eric steps in and answers my question.
"Are you serious?! Don't they know that they actually do have a chance to become a leader if they rank 1st by the end of initiation?!" I look at Eric then at my dad. Who knew that me becoming a leader would cause me to make so many enemies.
"apparently not" Eric crosses his arms and leans back on his chair. "How did they found out is the real question here."
"Word gets around fast here in dauntless Eric, it only takes one person to hear what you're saying for the whole dauntless faction to find out. You've been here two years now and you still haven't figure this out?" I look at him and all he does is shrug in response.
"Now what are we going to do to keep you safe?" Eric leans forward resting his forearms on his thighs and looks at me. This time it's my turn to shrug unable to come up with something.
"She can come back home, I don't think there's a better place where she'll be safer" My dad suggests while he gets up and walks over to a stack of papers he had in one of his bookshelves.
"No, that's the first place they'll look when they notice she's not staying in the dormitory" Eric stands up and stretches. He walks and stands behind me placing his hands on my shoulders the same way he did when we were in Max's office and i got the news I was going to become a leader.
"Then where do you plan I should stay?" I look up at him and he smiles. And no, not the type of smile Dylan had most of the day, sweet and kind. It was that type of smile that Eric was famous for. The type of smiles that said i'm up to no good or i'm about to say something and you're going to hate me.
