Chapter 7:Millz
"Princesa?" My mamá words brought me back into reality. "You didn't know your father died last night? Jamilla didn't call you?" My mamá says. "One minute remaining!"the guard yells out. I just shook my head with a tear rolling down my face. "Jamilla flight was this morning she should be at TiTi house by now tell Julio to take you there! Look out for your sister Princesa she's not a strong as you! You two get a place go to school get jobs whatever but the non sense stops now! Be better than me! Y'all's all y'all's got now Princesa!" My mamá cries. "Times up ." The guard yells out. My mamá last words were "prometeme (promise me)". Leaving out of the prison I wipe my tears. I'm extremely heartbroken my papi was my first love he always treated us like princesses even though I am close with my mamá I always felt safe and comfortable with my papi I was close to him too just not as close. Making my way back to the car Julio hands me an envelope with the cash before taking off. Did my mamá really want me to live right? Get a job go to school? Now that I have Millz around I need to be a better example for her. Last time I saw Jamilla was one year ago she was dressed in oversized clothes and was pretty shy to be an adult."Julio did you know about my father and Millz arrival?" I said curious to know why Julio didn't tell me. "Yes Princesa but when you didn't say anything I figured you didn't know and I felt it would be best if your mamá told you but I was going to take you to your TiTi where Millz should be." Julio says. I don't trust Julio either to be honest then again I trust no one. Pulling up at the ran down motel I grab my bags and leave my key in the room I paid cash anyways. Loading my bags in the back of the car I hop in the passenger seat."So where you gonna live Princesa with TiTi? You gonna work for the family?" Julio says. "Nah you know drugs are not my thing and I don't know what I'll do right now." I said I'm not telling Julio all my business. Pulling up to my TiTi's house I grab my bags thank Julio and head inside hopefully Julio isn't following me inside this is a family matter. Knocking on my TiTi's door my uncle Luis answers the door. "hermosa sobrina te extraño(beautiful niece I miss you)" My uncle Luis says as he hugs me. "JULIANNA!!!" Jamilla screams as she runs up to hug me. "You look so good I miss you sis!" Millz says hugging me tighter. "Princesa come sit." My TiTi Adriana says. Putting my attention on Jamilla who looks almost unrecognizable I mean this girl was just looking a mess but now her hair is blow out Dominican style and it looks so long and healthy in a full pony her clothes look expensive and fitted and it even looks like she's wearing makeup! Where has this girl been? I mean my sister has always been pretty duh she's my sister but she looks amazing now her shape is nice and slim her skin is a bright brown healthy complexion and her full lips really complements her face. I can make a lot of money off this girl and there's no way she's as stupid as Alexis! "You look so good sis." I said admiring Milla's beauty. "Almost as pretty as you right?" Jamilla said awkwardly. I see I have to work on her a bit. "Girls I made Mangú come let's eat." My TiTi Adriana said she's a true Dominican like my mamá. Adriana is my mom's youngest sister Adriana is only 32 years old so we're around the same age and my TiTi is definitely beautiful she's a redbone like my mother but TiTi is definitely on the thicker side. As we make our way to the table my uncle Luis says "I gotta take some to go girls I have to pick up Amar but we will be back later!" Amar is my uncles son and my uncle Luis is my mamá older brother he's 50. As my uncle exits my TiTi house Milla and I make our way to the table.
"I've been trying to call you Julianna Papi wanted to see you so bad." Milla says as my TiTi sits our food in front of us. "I've been calling you too Tía we have some family business to discuss." Adriana says as she sits directly across from me. "How did Papi die? Are we burying him in Michigan with his family?" I said still heartbroken of my papi's sudden death.
"Jamilla say something." I screamed! Jamilla was looking at me with tears in her eyes not saying a word."He was shot in the back of the head while he was asleep Princesa." My TíTí says with pain in her eyes. The room went silent for a minute. "But-Who-Why?!" I said wiping the tears from my eyes my Papi didn't even see his killer."Our family has a lot of enemies Princesa we think a rival is out for our family." My TiTí said. "Who? Why would they go for Papi? He wasn't in the business!" I said dumbfounded."They were looking for us the children of Sani." Milla said."Where were you Jamilla?" I said wondering how they let her live but took my papi's life."I was working that night." Jamilla says."Working where?" I said last time I checked Jamilla was unemployed."She's been working for the family TiTí." Adriana says. The family? Since when? Nothing is making any sense Jamilla went with Papi when she was 8 and our father had no dealings with the drug world so how did Jamilla slide in? "She's been moving weight in Michigan with Rock for the last 6 months." Adriana says. Rock is my papi's nephew I remember he sold for my mamá.
"I've been trying to call you Julianna I've been trying to see you so we can talk you never had time." Milla says. That part is true I didn't make time and I should have maybe my papi would still be here.
"I've been calling you because we need you to run the business back in Michigan Julianna you know more about the game."
