The prison was huge. It took her a second to take it all in. Kira was hauled to her feet, and escorted out into the ramp leading down to the prison. The outer wall was so thick and tightly packed, she bet not even an ant could crawl through. It was a light badge, with wet paint dripping slowly from the wall, pooling with the light dust of dirt inside the grounds. There was a wide, open circle where the prisoners were kept, while a ring of a building surrounded the gapping grounds. A large tightly packed chain wall replaced part of the plaster, torturing prisoners with the view of the sparkling blue sea. It almost seemed to scream freedom. So close, but unreachable. The large gate slowly opened. Kira wriggled her wrists uncomfortably. They hadn't changed her wrist cuffs once. The guards escorting her gripped Kira's arms tighter. She looked over, and saw that Zay was struggling as well. So was everyone, in fact. The sun shined in their faces. It was daunting. Kira looked at her guards. She couldn't even see their faces. They looked more robot than human under all of their armor. Kira stumbled as she was led through the gates, and into what looked like a bare roofless warehouse, with cracked dry dirt scattered everywhere. Guards were posted on the walls. Little tin tents and sheds scattered the prison grounds. Kira and the others were led to the platform above. A warden stepped out. It was a rather short and plump middle aged man, interestingly. His beard was speckled with white and gray. Kira stepped forward with everyone else as the guards released them the warden walked down the line.
"Welcome children who bear the curse. For your information, you will be held here until you turn eighteen. This does not mean that we will be soft. You can expect everything here that you would from an adults prison. Now, each of you will be thrown into the open. The prison ground. Anyone who misbehaves will get thrown into solitary. If your magic grows, admittedly report to the nearest guard, so you can be assigned stronger cuffs. If you are caught using magic, the punishment will be a lot more severe. Now bye bye." The warden walked off, waving his hand, and everyone was escorted to the prison ground. There were kids everywhere. Some who looked like they couldn't be older than five, and others who looked like they were about to turn eighteen. Kira and Zay walked side by side, sticking close to each other. There was laughter coming from inside some of the tents. There was a group of kids who couldn't have been more than ten, poking out a fire by a pile of dirt. Kira shuttered. This place was creepy. How did they even get fire? Nothing here looked flammable. Kira and Zay continued wandering around, until they came to a large changed fence. That's when Kira realized, the other kids from the test were on the other side. The prison was split in two. Those who easily cooperated, and.... Kira leaned towards Zay.
"Um-m Zay," She stuttered. "Yes?" Zay asked nervously, probably thinking the same thing.
"I think we were put with the dangerous criminals for fighting back." Kira stammered. Not only that, but the other half of the prison was cleaner too. There were little tiny cement houses in which people were jammed into. Water proof. Stupid teachers pets. They didn't have a fight bone in their body. That wasn't fair, but she couldn't think about what was fair right now. She had to focus on surviving. Kira and Zay slowly backed up. Of course, they backed up into a tin shed. It was literally made of five pieces of tin. The tin was glued together somehow though, almost like it was attached with mud. The 'door' flipped open. An enormous girl stepped out. She had to be at least sixteen. Maybe seventeen. Zay and Kira slowly backed away.
"We're so sorry!" Kira yelped. Zay nodded frantically.
"We didn't mean any harm! We just arrived here five minutes ago!" Zay almost yelled. The girl menacingly stepped out in front of them. She looked like she was about to strike, but then she burst out laughing. Kira and Zay didn't know if they were about to die, or were safe. The girl hooted with laughter. The ten year olds poking out a fire ran behind the nearest tin shed in fear. Finally she stopped laughing.
