Jamie entered the room without the need to touch the lavish door. It had all been planned down, even to the tiniest details, like the door. It had already been left open to ensure that he didn't touch anything that was outside the guest house. He had never actually been in any of the guest houses before. They had banned Ellie from going near them since the incident she had caused the day the Spanish ambassadors had arrived. His thoughts wondered melancholily towards that day, seven years ago. Back then, they were just two carefree children. He remembered advising Ellie against it, but as always, she hadn't bothered to listen, getting them both, into huge trouble. From that day on, every time she had a crazy idea, he would carry her to her room, against her will and locked her up until she had calmed down and was open for reasoning. Whenever he let her out, he would always start laughing at the faces she made. He missed those times dearly.
He entered through the door, to the grand room. It was breathtaking, every single aspect of the house was astounding, truly gorgeous. There was a beautiful grey chesterfield with a chaise longue in front of an intricate gas fireplace. To the right, there were two antique looking chairs with ornate carvings along the back wood. There was a wooden coffee table decorated with a large bouquet of lively flowers. The coffee table was placed on top of a striking red distressed rug, in the center of the room. He gently placed a sleeping Lottie on the sofa as he headed towards the kitchen, which was separated from the living room by the burning fireplace. The kitchen was u shaped, with wooden cabinets and white, pristine countertops. It had a small kitchen island including two dark wooden stools. He walked towards the fully stocked fridge and grabbed the necessary ingredients and began preparing a salad. He didn't know much about cooking, so he decided he was going to stick with the basics. That way, he had a smaller chance of messing it up.
Lottie woke up feeling very disorientated. She managed to stand up, her legs wobbling slightly beneath her. She headed towards the arched, oaken door, leaning on everything that was on her path, because she was too weak to stand up by her own. She felt the need to freshen up, so she could only hope that the door led to a bathroom. Unfortunately, it did not. It led to a very large bedroom. This is almost double the size of my room she thought, dumbfounded. The room had two beds, one on either side of the room, with a centered rug. A pang of nostalgia washed over her with the force of a hurricane. She felt the same feelings as when she had entered her Rosewood dorm for the first time, yet it was all so different now. Her life had been so simple back then, she hadn't needed to worry about anything except keeping up her perfect grades, but now? It was all so complicated, so confusing, yet she had one thought straight, take Leviathan down, once and for all.
Her stomach started growling and she realized she was famished. She stared at herself in the mirror, eh, I look decent enough, she thought to herself. Slowly, and with great effort, she headed towards the kitchen. She was surprised to find Jamie there. "I didn't think you'd be here" she said bewildered. "Where else did you expect me to be?" he questioned, as he placed a glass bowl in front of her. "Honestly, I have no idea, I just thought I'd be alone again" she responded, not paying much attention, as she sat down on one of the stools. "You don't like my company?" Jamie asked sarcastically, feigning hurt at her words. Since when did you become Raphael? She thought to herself. She started munching on the salad that Jamie had placed in front of her. She had missed salads, the freshness of the lettuce, the juiciness of the tomato and all the other enticing extras. She glanced sideways and saw a hint of a smile tugging at the corners of his lips as he looked deeply into her eyes. "What are you so happy about?" Lottie inquired. "I'm just really glad your safe" he genuinely answered. A faint, transient and rosy blush spread through her cheeks. "I never actually thanked you for saving me," she said, her tone now serious. Jamie laughed, openly and assuredly as Lottie stared at her now empty bowl, feeling the heat of her blush rising onto her cheeks once again. At the sight of this, Jamie only laughed more. She really liked this side of Jamie, the warm, sensitive side that hid beneath the cold facade he usually wore. She didn't want this moment to end. He drew her out of her daze, as he picked up the now empty salad bowl, and headed towards the kitchen sink. Lottie slowly got up and headed towards the bathroom, so she could get ready for bed. She washed her teeth and changed into her two-piece Disney pyjama. Her nightgown had gotten too small and so she had to buy a new one. As she looked in the mirror, she thought to herself Disney princesses will never get old, no matter what Ellie thinks. She snuggled between the cozy, warm sheets of her comfortable, relaxing bed. She fell into a practically instantaneous and profound sleep. Jamie entered the room seconds later and a sigh of relief escaped his lips. He cared for Lottie; in a way he couldn't explain. He didn't know how or why he was feeling this, he didn't even know what he was feeling, for all that mattered, but what he did know, was that he wanted to protect her with every fiber of his being. Seeing her safe and joyful, made him feel complete and peaceful.
