Lottie woke up sweat drenching her forehead. Something wasn't right. She looked around only to realize she was in a forest, a really dark forest. She could barely see anything when she heard a panicked scream. She recognized the voice immediately. Her eyebrow creased with worry, Ellie was in pain and she wasn't there to protect her. Her legs took over, barely giving her time to fully process what she was doing. Jamie's training had taken over her body as she raced past the dark, unsettling trees. She heard it again, only this time it wasn't Ellie's, it was Jamie's. She looked up in horror, her eyes felt like they were about to bulge out of her sockets. It wasn't possible. She picked up the pace, uneasiness settling in the pit of her stomach. She had to get there in time. She emerged into a lively dull, dry clearing, to find that her worst nightmares had come true. Ellie and Jamie were tied up, daggers against their throats. She looked dead into Ingrid's eyes, as rage filled her features. "It seems like your too late" Ingrid jeered through a mocking smile. "Let them go" Lottie hissed through clenched teeth. "And why should we do that?" Julius teased feigning concern. "You don't want them, you want me" Lottie answered a hint of desperation in her voice as she tried to prevent her brave façade from crumbling. "On the contrary," Ingrid started laughing maniacally, "we want the princess and her partizan, not you." Lottie felt the wind getting knocked out of her. "Impossible" she wheezed. Her legs buckled under her, as her knees sunk into the ground below. She was speechless. The colour drained from her face and she suddenly felt weak, empty. This couldn't be happening. She looked back up, she needed to see Ellie's and Jamie's reaction, she was sure they would be enraged, but to her deception, they looked pained and largely disappointed. For some reason those stares broke her down, it felt as if knifes were plunged deep into her heart. Why aren't you angry at me? She thought helplessly I destroyed your life. She looked back up only to find they were being dragged away. She tried to stand, but her legs weren't cooperating. She was unsteady, powerless. Her head throbbed in pain, as appalling scenarios resonated deep within her skull. She took an uncertain step forward as her foot got caught up in a solitary tenacious vine. She fell, hitting the dry, lumping ground hard as she freed her everlasting tears. She curled up into a ball, clutching her devastated heart, as if it were to stop beating any second now. She cried until her eyes stung and her throat was raw. She lay there wishing the ground would swallow her up. She couldn't bear to go back to her dorm, not without them. A solemn tear fell down her cheek; her body looked calm compared to how tangled her mind really was. So, she lay there on the muddy ground as she fell into a painful slumber.

She woke up, gasping for air, her heart in her throat. She placed her hand on her hammering heart as she wiped off the beads of sweat that trickled down her forehead. Just a dream she thought, it was all just a horrible dream.
