What happened?

Exposed

The noise was still so loud, i was looking straight at my best friend about to get hopelessly murdered. This new world is crazy but maybe a little bit of craziness was what i need to survive here, maybe it's time to throw caution to the wind. My mind was in this frame but can my body keep up. Enough of this, none of my friends is dying here especially on my watch especially my long time friend. Will i let all these memories i have be wasted by creatures that can't even think at all, communicate or even have a bath. It's time to act.
I looked to the extreme of my right, there were lots of growling creatures there too, i took aim with my sharpen staff... "here goes nothing". I made a long throw with all my might with the staff stabbing one of them and as i hoped it made a loud scream in agony, all other form of noise stopped, they were all distracted for a moment and now I realized this was my moment, throwing off the coat around me and made a breezing dash to the top of the stage— to michael, the Shinigami was there but I didn't care at all... I probably wasn't thinking anymore or rather I wasn't in my right mind ...should i call it adrenaline or stupidity but whatever it is i had Michael in my arms, with the Shinigami still standing there looking lifeless. A part of me still wanted to peek to see it's face but as mindless as i was at the moment i still valued my dear life.
With Michael in my arms now i ran towards the new portal I could see but at this point my little distraction has played it's part, now i was on top of the stage looking down on all these creatures as they looked up to me as well, i could obviously see how angry they were but i still felt i was in a movie, i felt so triumphant standing on that stage, shouldn't i get moving now— no i still wanted to soak up this moment, I didn't know where this ego came from but it almost cost me my life as my staff was sent flying back to me in a great speed which my eyes barely caught. I could only manage a slight dodge with the staff scratching me on the shoulder and disappearing into the portal. Yes, i was awake now, i knew my head could be the next thing flying off if I don't get moving. Immediately i jumped into the portal with Michael still knocked out cold, i was feeling very uneasy, not because of the wound on my shoulder but because i knew even if i had miraculously gotten away, i have announced my presence, i just might have put myself and possibly my friends *if they're here* in trouble.

As Derek was still preparing a surprise attack plan with Claudia still hiding behind a rock boulder, came a loud horn sound startling them both.
"What was that?" Derek asked with his eyes wide open.
"I don't know but i think it's an alarm system"
"An alarm system?...why would they even have on—" Derek abruptly stopped whispering
"What is it? What's wrong?" Claudia asked looking worried
"Claudia, i have friends here, what if— what if—"
"What if what?!" Claudia snapped as she was already getting impatient
Derek took a deep breath trying to regain his composure
"What if my friends have been found?"
Just as he completed his statement their conversation was interrupted by the marching and running of the creatures, they were no longer worshipping the amulet, they were all running towards the eastward direction.
"The Amulet! This is our chance!" Claudia told Derek
"That's right, stay here and keep watch let me go and get it" He responded picking up Claudia's axe dropping his bow and arrow with her.

He climbed down the rocks and made his way into the lit coven where he could clearly see the amulet shining before his very eyes. Just as he was about to pick up the amulet, a slimy liquid dropped on his hand, it was sticky and it felt a bit hot. He slowly shifted his gaze from the amulet to the roof of the room.
"Derek! Get out of there!!!" Claudia yelled from a distance
It was a Menananngal hanging on the roof as it came flying down with it's claws stretched out, Derek instinctively dodged the attack rolling on the ground and back to his feet. This creature was the only thing standing between Derek and the amulet. This is the best time to tap into the Superhero in him and find a way to bring this creature down before things get more complicated.
