THE YEAR 2020 was a stretch. But despite that, a lot of good things still managed to happen-especially in the music industry. In today's episode, I'll be sharing my favourite 2020 song and why I liked it.
As you've seen above, my favourite 2020 song was exile by Taylor Swift, feat. Bon Iver. exile is the fourth track on Taylor Swift's 8th studio album-folklore.
One thing I thinks qualifies good art-writing, drawing, singing, acting etc-is it's ability to command emotions. exile managed to do that, and more.
"I think I've seen this film before, And I didn't like the ending."

When I think exile, I think "emotions". The song was sang with so much passion and had excellent conversational lyrics. The melody of the song was peaceful and cool, almost gospel, in fact. And the lyrics just floated through me and hit straight to the heart. I think my favourite parts of the song were the bridge that seemed like an argument and the first chorus.
exile is one of those rare songs that work for every mood. Your happy? Sad? Angry? Bored? Or just simply feeling "Meh"? exile work for every mood, and that just made it better.
But the one more thing that sealed the deal with the song, apart from the beautiful flow of Taylor's voice with Bon Iver's, was the story interwoven within the lines of the song. Unsurprisingly for most pop music, it was heartbreak story, but the story exile told hit with a powerful and at the same time, soft force.
If you haven't listened to exile yet, do that. It's like a rainbow in black and white.
"You were my town and I'm in exile, seeing you out."
