𝐁𝐎𝐊𝐔𝐓𝐎 𝐆𝐀𝐕𝐄 a quick nod to the receptionist before turning to start walking to your room.

"Wait!" She exclaimed.

Bokuto froze mid step and narrowed his eyes.

Mrs. Sasaki had always been a calm and collected person so for her to have a random outburst like that means something must be wrong.

Bokuto twist on his feet so that he was facing the old lady again.

He nervously smiled, "Yes?"

She cleared her throat, recollecting herself going back to her normal tone. "I haven't seen Ms.[Y/n] yet today."

Bokuto furrowed his eyebrows deep in thought. He recalls you telling him you spend at least an hour with Mrs.Sasaki a day because she doesn't get enough human interaction (and although you'd never admit it neither do you).

Mrs.Sasaki watched as realization dawned on Bokuto's face before he turned and practically ran to your room. "Take care of her." She said quietly before going back to her work.

Bokuto reached your door and slowly twisted the handle. He was greeted with the sight with you sitting on the edge of your bed, looking out the window, your back facing him.

"[Y/n]?" Bokuto asked quietly. You tensed but didn't respond.

Bokuto took quite steps towards you. "[Y/n]?" He called a little louder.

"Oh. Hi Kotaro." You whispered not turning to face him.

He furrowed his eyes at the use of his full name. Once he reached you he walked around the bed to sit next to you.

He hesitated before softly asking, "[Y/n], are you okay?"

You looked up at him smiling, "Yeah I'm fine! It's nothing don't worry about it."

Bokuto frowned, "[Y/n] we've known each other for how long? I could tell when somethings wrong." Once again he asked you, "Are you okay?"

Your smile slowly dissipated from your face and you put your head in your hands, rubbing you're eyes harshly. "Yes...no" you sighed, " I don't know."

He looked in your eyes, smiling softly before rubbing your back, "Come on, you can talk to me."

You were silent for a moment, fidgeting with your hands before laying them on your lap. You muttered something Bokuto couldn't hear.

"Hmm?" He hummed, signaling for you too speak up.

You spoke up a bit louder, "I'm just not ready to go yet."

Bokuto fell silent. He wanted to tell you that you don't have to worry or that it's going to be okay but it wasn't. It wasn't going to be okay, because in less than 96 hours room 232 would be empty and he would be leaving the hospital without your hand in his grasp.

He bit his lip, speaking up without really having a plan of what to say, "[Y/n]-"

You cut him off, "21 is supposed to be the prime of our life! We're supposed to be making our best memories right now and...and living our best lives! But I'm stuck in a hospital and because of me you are too."

Bokuto's throat suddenly felt dry. There was nothing he could say in this moment to make you feel better and he hated it.

So instead of saying anything he hugged you tightly. Pulling your head into his chest.

You didn't move.

"I'm not ready to go yet." You repeat, you're voice cracking this time.

Bokuto began to stroke your hair.

"Why me?" You whisper.

"Why'd this have to happen to me?"

Bokuto looks down at you to see tears streaming down your face.

He spoke up for the first time, " I don't know [Y/n], this wasn't how it was supposed to go."

"It's not fair." You said.

"It's not, and I'm sorry."

Bokuto could go on a whole tangent about everything he's sorry about and how you deserve better but he knows that won't fix anything, knows that it's the last thing you want to hear.

"I'm not ready to go." You repeated, finally hugging Bokuto back.

Bokuto's face contours in pain as he kisses the top of your head.

You fiddle with his shirt before looking up at him, "You'll be here right? You'll be here to the end?"

You don't know where these insecurities suddenly came from. You never feared for Bokuto going away but now that you are you know that losing him would be the real thing to kill you.

He smiles at you wiping the tears from your face. "Of course I will." To emphasize his statement he added on, "I'd die before I'd leave you."

You looked back down, leaning closer into his chest. "That doesn't even make any sense." You said softly giggling.

His smile brightened after seeing yours.

"Point is, I'll always be here." He twirled a finger through your hair.

"Okay?" He questioned you.

"Okay." You said smiling into his chest, holding onto him a little tighter.
