You glanced at the clock then back at the walk in front of you. Then at the cloak again then at the door.

Then the-

Bokuto walked in just in time. You'd gotten bored waiting for him.

"Ko!" You said excitedly.

"[Y/n]!" He said, matching your energy.

You jumped right into it,asking, "I was thinking, everything's been so hectic recently so why don't we just watch a show or something?"

Bokuto was about to question you but stopped. Yeah maybe that's not how many people would like to spend one of their last days doing but he knew you.

And knew this was your way of trying to bring a bit of normalcy back into your lives.

"Kōtarō?" You asked after not hearing him reply for a while.

He grinned in response, "Deal, but I get to pick the show."

You gasped, "What?!"

He nodded at you to confirm what he said.

"I'm the one dying!" You joked.

He crossed his arms, "More the reason for me to pick. Like hell I'll let a dumb reality show be one of the last tv shows you watch."

A couple minutes later, there you two layed together. A dumb reality show playing on the tv.

"My final decision" the tv plays, both of you clearly invested.

"is Hiroto."

You gasped, digging your head into Bokuto's shoulder in disbelief.

"No way." He said shocked while wrapping both his arms tightly around you.

Bokuto smiled as he left your room. He waved goodbye to Mrs.Sasaki as he exited the hospital too and started his walk back to campus.

It was nearing 12:00 a.m. You insisted on finishing the show and he pretended like he didn't want to also.

The hospital was not close to his college at all but he's been walking these past few weeks. He found it peaceful, maybe because he got to think. Or maybe because you loved walks, he doesn't know.

He huffed, kicking pebbles on the side walk. He wanted to stay by your side the whole day, so that if anything were to happen at least he'd be able to say goodbye.

But you wouldn't let him. When you first got sick you told him he needed to get used to life without you and he brushed it off with a wave of his hand.

"Don't say that! It's probably just a virus or something the doctors here will take good care of you!"

You shook your head with a smile. "Yeah you're probably right. Forget I even said anything."

He laughed to himself. How naive you both were.

He soon arrived at his dorm and entered silently. His roommate and libero, Aoi, liked to go to bed before 12 so that he could be well rested enough to play well the next day.

So Bokuto tip toed to his bed and sat on it.

"Yo, what's up man?" Aoi whispered.

"Oh hey. Shoot did I wake you? I'm sorry." Bokuto apologized sincerely.

"Nah you're good, was waiting on you to get back. You usually arrive around 10 and I was worried about you." Aoi said, sitting up and putting his glasses on despite not being able to see Bokuto in the dark.

"Awh thanks man, I stayed a little later with my girlfriend today."

Aoi shuffled around, "She still in the hospital?" He asked hesitantly.

Bokuto nodded but remembered they were in the dark. "Yeah."

Aoi was the only one Bokuto had told about you being sick. Everyone else on the team knew about you (how could they not when your all he talks about) but everyone just thought you were one of those "private not secret" relationships and never asked too many questions.

"She's dying." Bokuto said, shattering the silence.

No one had known that part.

Aoi flicked on the light by their shared nightstand. "She's dying." Aoi repeated, processing the information.

Bokuto hummed, staring off in front of him then back at Aoi.

Aoi couldn't begin to imagine what Bokuto was going through. He had already sympathized with him, knowing his girlfriend is sick but dying? That would break him.

Bokuto laughed hysterically and placed his head in his hands, "And I have no idea what to do about it."

Aoi bit his lip. He was lucky enough to have never lost someone before. And he was a computer science major, not a psychology one so he was the farthest thing from comforting. But Bokuto was his friend so he spoke up.

"Continue doing what your doing."

Bokuto took his hands out of his head and looked up, "What?"

Aoi smiles, "You've been with her day in day out. I don't know her personally, but I know all her best and last memories were probably made with you. Cherise every moment with her like I assume you're doing. You're doing your best, continue too until the last moment."

Bokuto looked at him thoughtfully for a second before grinning his Bokuto like grin. "Thanks man, I mean it."

He nodded in response, "Anytime."

Aoi thought the conversation would end there until Bokuto spoke up again, "Tomorrow. You should meet her."

Aoi's eyebrows raise until they are hidden in his blue hair. "Woah what?"

Bokuto shrugs, "All our old friends have seen her this past month but it's just been me this week. I'm sure she'd love to see a new face, so you should meet her."

Aoi pushes his glasses back on his nose, "Uh are you sure?"

Bokuto laughed boisterously, forgetting it was the middle of the night. "Of course Aoi! She always tells me a friend of mine is a friend of hers!"

He considers it for a second and sighs, "Okay dude. You go at your usual time, and then I'll come after practice alright."

"Okay! Goodnight Aoi." Bokuto said, laying back in bed and closing his eyes.

"Goodnight Bokuto." He said taking off his glasses. "And what room number?"

Aoi flicks off the lamps.

"232." Bokuto says before drifting off to bed.
