Unexpected Love

Chapter 12

Clarke POV

Three days have passed and Koda has been visiting them everyday. Not staying too long but will lay by the fire with them.

Lexa and Clarke just finished eating and were watching the fire burn. "I like to think we are on a vacation." Clarke said. Lexa chuckled.

"But we are just surviving on our own." Lexa added.

"Maybe life should be about more than just surviving." Clarke said looking at Lexa. "Don't we deserve better than that?"

Lexa looked at Clarke. "Maybe we do." Lexa said, softly.

They both leaned in and captured each other's lips in their own. The kiss was slow and soft. Lexa moved a hand to Clarke's messy hair as Clarke cupped her face with one hand. Clarke's heart fluttered.

Everything went out of Clarke's mind, the plane crash, the raft, being stuck on an island. Her body was lit on fire.

They kissed until they had to break for air. They were both out of breath, leaning their foreheads together. "Clarke, you have a boyfriend." Lexa panted.

"He's probably fucking another girl already. I don't even like him." Clarke said. "He thinks I'm floating dead in the ocean."

"Clarke, you are still technically with him. You were gonna get married." Lexa told her. They pulled apart completely.

"We don't even know if we are getting off this island." Clarke said. "We might die on this island, Lex."

"We aren't gonna die here." Lexa said. "We are gonna get off this island." Lexa told Clarke.

"You don't even believe that." Clarke said, getting frustrated. "How many planes have flown over here and missed us? We've been on this island for over a month probably!" Clarke got up and started to walk away.

"Clarke!" Lexa called.

"I just need to be alone." Clarke said, walking.

Clarke walked a little before sitting down on the shore. Clarke sighed and moved hair out of her face. Clarke put her head in her hands and a tear fell.

Clarke sat there for a few minutes when she felt something sit down beside her. Clarke picked her head up and saw Koda sitting beside her. "I fucked up Koda." Clarke said. "I know she's right. I'd be cheating on Finn but I want her and she's just trying to give us hope and..." Clarke trailed off.

Koda grumbled. "I know. I'm dumb, not remind me." Clarke sighed. Koda grumbled again. "Yes I'm gonna fix it. I'm not that dumb. I'll probably end up crying. I'll do it in a little."

Koda huffed and looked at her annoyed. "Fine, I'll do it now, bossy."

Clarke got up and started to walk back to the camp. Once she got there, Koda went to the lake. Clarke opened the very badly made door and saw Lexa sitting down, drawing in the dirt with a stick.

Clarke sat down next to Lexa, who didn't even look up. "A bear cub just bossed me around and yelled at me." Clarke said. Lexa looked at her. "I'm sorry." Clarke said, looking into Lexa's hurt eyes.

"I am too." Lexa said, in an unsteady voice. A tear fell down Clarke's face. Lexa reached up and wiped it away.

"I'm just scared." Clarke said. "It's always in the back of my mind that we could never get off this island." Clarke's voice was unsteady.

"I know." Lexa said, wrapping her into a hug. "It is for me too." Lexa said as Clarke wrapped her arms around Lexa.

Tears started to wet their shirts as both of them cried. Clarke put a hand in Lexa's tangled hair and Lexa rubbed Clarke's back.

"You were right about me and Finn." Clarke started. "I can't be on the same level of a dick as him." Lexa laughed softly into her shirt.

They sat there for a very long time, hugging. They laid down on the bed and Lexa kissed Clarke's cheek. "I am sorry." Lexa said. "I just don't want you to do something that you'll regret."

"I'd feel like a piece of shit, if he waited for me." Clarke said. "Not waited but didn't move on quickly." Clarke sighed. Lexa nodded.

"I thought about it." Lexa said. "If we wait about two weeks maybe, we can try it." Lexa moved hair out of Clarke's face. "You are right. We might never get off this island and I don't want to not do this. If we do get back after those two weeks, we can go on pause while you sort out Finn."

Clarke had a small smile on her face. "Okay." Clarke said. "That sounds good. I don't know if I'll make it two weeks but..." Clarke said.

Lexa smiled softly. "You got yelled at by Koda?" Lexa asked, rubbing dirt off Clarke's face with her thumb.

"He has serious attitude." Clarke said. Lexa laughed softly.

"He does have attitude." Lexa said.

"Just one final kiss." Clarke said. Lexa kissed Clarke one last time. The kiss was soft and quick.
