Jace’s P.O.V

We ran all night, and I honestly could tell you it was across the freakin’ world.

When we arrived, we were in the city of Atlantis. The Lost Island. It was very secretive place, only royals knew about it. Rayne had explained that this is where the King had moved after the horrible incident 17 years ago. It had taken so many years to find them, because she had always been two steps behind him. He would be at one Palace, and when she arrived, she was told they hadn’t been there in years. Palace, after Palace, she searched, and finally she found them.

I could tell that Rayne and my father were nervous. Hell I was just as nervous. I was supposed to be watching the kids.. Protecting them.. And I didn’t.. I made him lose two children that night, children he can never get back. I was dreading this visit. But, something else was going on between Rayne and my father.. A secret they were keeping.

Finally we arrived at golden gates that lead to the Palace. Julie stopped running. “What a gorgeous place. Who lives here?” she asked.

I shook my head…clueless. “Obviously the King.” Rayne said rolling her eyes.

“Oh, right. My feet hurt. Jace would you carry me ?” Julie asked in a seductive voice, it sent shivers down my spine.. Not the good kind.

“You are perfectly capable of walking. You’ve been doing it for hours and haven’t said anything, keep it up for a bit more and stop being a prissy brat.” Rayne replied.

“You don’t have to be so snippy Rayne. God. What crawled up your ass and died.” Julia said.

“You.” she replied. “You and your neediness. You better behave yourself or so help me, this will be the last place you ever go.” Rayne said.

Julia looked at me. “Jace, baby, are you going to let her talk to me like that.” she whined in her annoying voice.

I shrugged and walked through the gate after letting the guards know who we were. I heard a “hymph.” from behind me and rolled my eyes.

When we entered the Palace, we were greeted by the King.

“Ah, Rayne, Andre, Jace how wonderful to see you again. It’s been quite a while.” he smiled.

“That it has. I’ve been trying to get a hold of you for a while.. We wanted to apologize again for what happened..” Rayne said with sadness.

King Damien laughed. “Not to worry. It was a misunderstanding is all. I’ll get Maria to show you to your rooms. I’m afraid they will all not be on the same floor. We have an unusual amount of guests coming for the balls.” he smiled.

A petite woman came into view then and bowed at the King. “Follow me please.” she said turning to us.

We followed her down the hall and a few corridors over. It looked to be the servant quarters. Or a step up from them.. The managers maybe. She stopped outside of a room and opened the door. It was a simple room.. It had a comfy looking bed in the centre. A desk off to the side with a lamp, and a closet. It had a small balcony that faced the front of the Palace.

“This is to be the girls room.” Maria said looking at Julia. Julia looked inside and nodded. I could tell she wasn’t happy about it. But, she kept her face emotionless.

“It’s nice.” she commented and stepped back beside me.

Maria nodded and closed the door to move on. We walked up another flight of stairs and down hallways that looked much better. We were on the third floor now.

“This floor is going to be quite crowded within the week, we have people coming from all over the world. This is where their rooms shall be. As well as yours” she nodded to Rayne and my father. She continued down until she stopped in front of a door. “This is your room sir.” she said opening it, the walls were painted red with black borders, there was a desk and a bathroom attached, as well as a queen sized bed in the room, off to one side was a small balcony, facing the side of the Palace, and a closet across from the bed.
