Next day at school

As I'm running to Math with Sir Tiergan, I'm almost late, but if I can run fast enough I can maybe get there in time. I bang into someone

"Whoa Foster, What's the rush?"

"Math, late" I rush to pick up my books

"Why don't you just ditch?" He smirks, he probably ditches like 90% of classes, even detention sometimes

"It's math though" I kinda struggle with math, it's a lot more harder then it was in San Francisco

"All the more reason to ditch"

"Uhhggggg"

"You know you want toooo"

"Finnnneeee"

"Yay, Okay come" he pulls me along and out the doors

"Where exactly are we going, Keefe?" I say as we enter the forest on the side of the foxfire grounds

He stops at the base of a tree "up" he points upwards

"You've got to be kidding me, keefe, are you crazy?"

"Some might say I am, but come on" he starts to pull me up

I pull my hand away "Okay fine" I start to go up with Keefe behind me. I slip on a branch "this better be worth it" I grumble and climb up higher

"Okay, come on to this branch here"

"Woah" I say as I reach the top. You have a whole entire view of the grounds up here, the whole forest and the mansion like school.

"It's amazing isn't it?" He wraps an arm around me, I barely even notice though, but I'm glad for it when I almost fall forwards

"Thanks" I smile at him

"No problem" he smiles back "hey, are you going to the ball, the one in two weeks?"

"Yeah? How about you?"

"Um, yeah, so, uh, are you going with anyone?"

"It was announced yesterday Keefe, I don't think anyone would have asked anyone yesterday, and it's the first lesson for today"

"Tam asked Biana yesterday"

"But I thought biana was at home, not coming out till tomorrow"

"He went around to check on her, then asked her"

"How do you know about this before me?" I demand, but still with a smile

"Fitz is my best friend and Biana's overprotective brother, when Tam asked her, he called me to shout at someone. Hours and hours of shouting about how annoying Tam is, and I completely agree with him, I finally have someone on my side" he pumps his fist into the air triumphantly

"Aw Tams not so bad"

"Ah ha, you are also on my side" he tickles me and I almost fall off the branch "whoa foster, why do you keep falling for me?" I quickly grab onto his shoulder to balance myself "okay soo, are you going with anyone - to the ball?"

"No ones asked me, if that's what your saying"

"Uh, ya, so, would you like to go with me?"

"As friends?"

"Or a little more?" He says with a little tease. I never thought Keefe liked me. I thought it was like Lihn or Biana or someone. I didn't think it would be me, a literal nobody, a girl who skipped a load of grades

"Do you not want that?" I can hear the sadness in his voice, it's almost unbearable

That's why I say

"No Keefe, I would love to go with you" the look on his face is just pure joy. It makes me happy about the decision that I made. I think I've finally found where my heart is leading me...
