We were sailing across the peaceful lake, on a leaf. We did not speak much; seeing all the crystal was just so fascinating, and we were sailing on a LEAF!
Finally I rested my eyes on Edward. He was staring up on the wall, eyes sparkling. I ran my eyes all over him, his bluish blonde hair under the light, deep eyes, full lips, smooth neck, and the strong body that had protected me from countless troubles. Why hadn’t I realized how gorgeous this boy was before?
“What?” Edward felt my burning gaze on him, “You also look like a weirdo looking at me like that.”
“Nothing, really,” I answered quickly, avoiding the question.
Then we went silent again, looking in different directions. I felt so tensed up; it was too quiet. The romantic atmosphere also did no help – blue lights being like fairy lights all over the place, and us sitting close together sailing on a leaf. That was just like a fairy tale.
Eventually Edward gave up using the stem, because there seemed to be a stronger current here. It moved slowly and smoothly to the opposite direction to the place we came from, so practically Edward had nothing to do now. I hugged my legs close to chest, and Edward was sitting with his knees crossed. We glanced around aimlessly, and accidentally met each other’s eyes.
I stared into Edward’s deep green eyes, and now it was shining with a hint of blue. I stared deep into them, and all I saw was love. The moment was so romantic; it was like we were being wrapped in our own bubble. Nothing else seemed important now, not even the treasure we were searching for. I could hear and see nothing, except the perfect person in front of me and his low breathing becoming quick and harsh. We leaned closer to each other, unaware of everything happening around us.
Our lips were just inches apart, when something busted our bubble and caught our attention. It was the sound of water, becoming louder and louder – a sound that indicated danger.
Edward’s head snapped to the direction of the sound. He froze, widening his eyes. The sound was becoming much louder, the leaf moving more rapidly, and we could now see the end of the lake – a waterfall. A huge one, from the sound I heard. I shivered with fright.
“Edward… What are we going to do?” I whispered, and I could see we were getting close to the edge.
He turned to look at me, still shocked. He jerked his head back to the direction of the waterfall, and in a matter of seconds we were going to fall!
We did nothing, both too scared and shell-shocked. Just before the moment that we were going to fall, Edward grabbed me and held me tightly in his arms and shouted something. But the sound of the water muffled his voice; I could not hear him. We fell together down the waterfall, and plunged into the water down under. The force was so strong; I felt pain all over my body. And before I knew it, everything went utterly black.
