My head felt like it was going to explode. I felt very cold, wet, and I could not breathe properly. I could not even manage to open my eyes. The floor felt cold, hard like marble. But it was not smooth like marble at all; it was rough and pointy. I was facing down on the floor, my head lying sideways.
After what felt like ages, I finally managed to open my eyes. It was quite dark, but there was dim blue light above my head. Suddenly, a feeling of déjà vu rushed through me. A few moments later, everything came back into my mind. I remembered the crash, and the fall. And the odd feeling I had with Edward…
“Edward?!” I jerked up, and the sudden rush made my head dizzy and gave me a headache. I rubbed my temples, and glanced around. I saw Edward lying a few feet away from me, unconscious.
“Edward!” I tried to stand up, but my leg hurt. I looked at my leg, and saw blood gushing from a cut around my right leg’s ankle. I gave up standing up after a few attempts; I crawled to Edward instead.
“Edward!” I screamed, turning him, making him lay on his back, “Edward, Edward, EDWARD! Wake up Edward! You’re scaring me! EDWARD!” I kept shaking him frantically, hoping that he’d wake up. And hoping I would wake up. It must be a dream.
“EDWARD!” I screamed again, tears streaming down my face uncontrollably. I cried and cried, shaking him.
“(Yn)?” suddenly I heard a faint voice. Edward was alright!
I quickly wiped away the tears that burred my vision. Edward was smiling at me weakly, and he managed to sit up. I helped him get comfortable on the floor.
“OH MY GOD (YN)! What happened to your leg?!” Edward suddenly screamed, startling me.
“Oh. That,” I glanced at my leg, “It’s nothing, really. You’re awake, that’s what’s important!”
“No it’s not okay. Let me help you,” Edward moved to where my right leg was, and tore a piece of cloth from his shirt, wet it with fresh water from the river streaming besides us, and cleaned my wound, “This time it’s my turn.”
“Edward, are you really feeling alright? Did you hurt yourself or something?” I asked worriedly, as he was bandaging my leg.
He sighed, “I’m alright, it’s just your leg that worries me,”
I took the time to look around. The water was plunging into the wide river next to us, and there were still blue lights on the wall. I could not see where the river lead to, as it eventually turned left with the cave tunnel.
“Okay, done!” Edward said, and I looked at my leg. He had done a great job there.
“Thanks Edward,” I replied. Edward stood up, and I followed him.
“OUCH!” unfortunately my leg hurt too much; I stumbled forward, and Edward caught me. He helped me stand properly, “I think you need some rest first. It has been a long day, we should take a rest now,”
I thought about it for a moment, “I guess you’re right. I really can’t walk in this state. And I don’t want you carrying me or something,” I chuckled at my own words, remembering the time when I twisted my ankle during PE at school and he had to carry me on his back all the way home. He got really exhausted that time. We were eleven then.
He seemed to remember that time too, “Yeah, and we should eat something too,” he led me to a rock that rose from the ground, perfect for sitting on. Luckily, our small backpacks were still secured on our back. We ate something, both thinking of the events that had led us here in a matter of two days in deep silence. All the sound I could hear was the waterfall.
Finally we were done eating, and I rested my head on Edward’s shoulder.
“Now that we have settled down, I feel real tired. Wonder what time it is,” I said, giving out a yawn.
“It’s probably dark outside,” Edward said, “So sleep now, you have had a tough day.”
“I will. Goodnight, Edward,” I said, and began to close my eyes.
Before I slipped unconscious, I felt something cool and wet touched my lips. But I was too tired to open my eyes and figure out what it was.
