We were now walking down the big main hall. "Which class do you have first?", I asked. Jade pulled out her schedule and looked at the top. "I have Trig first", she said. I smiled because we had the exact same class first period. "Okay, I'm going there too, so I'll show you the quickest way to get there.", I said as we turned to the right down this very tiny hall. We both walked all the way down the hall then turned left. I opened the door and since this door was barely used the teacher was startled when we both walked in.

"Ms. Lockhart! You are late and so is your friend. I have never seen you before. Are you new?", said Mrs. Burke. Jade then cleared her throat and said, "Yes I am. Would you like me to introduce myself to the class?". This girl was very confident I've never seen someone that actually wanted to introduce themselves before. "Sure dear, that would be lovely. Ms. Lockhart you may take a seat." I walked to the back of the classroom and sat at the one empty table by the window. "Hi, I'm Jade Smith! I am 16 years old and I just transferred from the Valley.", said Jade. Everyone went silent and then Jade walked to the back of the classroom and sat beside me.

"What are you doing?!", I whispered shouted at her. "What do you mean? I'm just sitting beside you." I looked at her and forgot she was new, so I thought I would tell her the lay of the land. "Okay, I'm only doing this because you deserve to start out on the right foot. Sitting or being around me is basically social suicide. I'm not popular and people do not like me. If you want a chance in this school you might want to sit with anyone else besides me." She looked at me and started giggling. "Why are you laughing?", I said. Once she got a hold on herself she said, "I had a friend come here and talked about you. She told me that you were a lesbian so don't worry! I don't care your the first person at this school that actually talked to me, so I consider you my only friend."

I was shocked. Her being my friend?! Was she actually different than the others? Did she actually want to be my friend? My head was swarming with questions. "Are you alright?", she asked. "Yeah, it's just I haven't had a friend since I came out, so I'm just a little shocked." ,I said. The girl just smiled at her and she then slipped me a note. I opened it and on the paper was a number. Oh my gosh! I just got this girl's number! She smiled again and turned back to the class. I was so shocked I didn't even know what subject I was in. I had a good feeling that change was about to happen. I hope it is a good one.
