Reading Chapter 5

Janus got up and pulled the smaller side with him. The emo stumbled a bit feeling lightheaded still.

The snake apologized and walked a bit slower to logans room. Janus often took books from the logical sides room. He had good taste.

They entered the room and went over to his enormous bookshelf. Janus looked for a minute before climbing up the ladder and grabbing the book labeled: Everything you need to know about being a side and more. A complete guide.

He grabbed the black leather book with gold wording. "Page 394...Page 395, Aha! Page 666! Evil sides." Virgil questioned how he went from 395 to 666 but dismissed it when Janus spoke.

"Okay, Anxiety, Deceit, Depression, Split Creativity, Intrusive Thoughts, Apathy." He set the book down on the glass table that appeared out of nowhere. "Wait what about Sleep?" "Sleep is a neutral side not good or evil. Remy just sleeps at the dark side house more than other places. Recently he's been staying other places. Remus and I barely see anyone, but each other. Now pay attention." Virgil looked at the page and took a sharp intake of breath.

Where a picture usually is it was ripped out and you could see the earlier page.

He started reading.

"Cassius, or more formally known as Apathy, job is to create Complete lack of emotion about a human being, a thing or an activity for their host blah blah blah, Apathy is not always related to an underlying condition. It may be caused by: Drug abuse e. g. marijuana, Loss of faith in one's self, the belief that you will never reach your goals, Bereavement, Blah Blah, Okay about Apathy and his powers. He can make his host feel these things, and, this is what we need to know, like Deceit (turn to page 689 for reference) he can turn into any of the other sides, Except for King Creativity (Romulus). He cannot do their jobs or use any powers or special parts (Anxiety - Paranoia, Intrusive thoughts -Tentacles, Deceit - 6 Arms, etc.) they come with."

Janus stopped reading for a minute to let that sink in. "He could be any of us." Virgil said in a whisper. At that moment Logan opened his door and the glass table disappeared. Virgil fell over and Janus held onto the book.

"Hello Logan. Virgil and I were just looking for a bedtime book." Janus spoke in a cool collected voice. Virgil fell over and Janus held onto the book.

"Come on Virgil we need to get you back to your room." Janus grabbed Virgil's arm and pulled him up and started walking back to the emo's room. They passed Remy who was walking down the stairs wearing a shirt saying, "be a badass with a good ass."

Janus smiled at the shirt and opened the purpled haired boy's room.

"When you feel better, we can do more research on Apathy. In the meantime, don't trust anyone. And we should create a secret knock or something, so we know it's not him." Virgil nods. "Get better." Janus exits the room and closes the door.

Virgil sighed and laid down on the bed.

On the other side of the door Janus sighed and looked at the book he took from logans room. He started walking down to the living room with the other sides. He passed Patton on the way down the stairs.

"Hello Morality. Anxiety is feeling better now." The happy trait just stared blankly forward.

"Patton?" Nothing.

He looked at where he was staring. There was a blank wall. Nothing. He investigated Patton's eyes and saw glimmers of orange in his milky brown eyes then they were gone in a flash. He blinked a few times then straightened his glasses. "Oh, hey Jan!" He smiled. A little to preppy. "Hello Patton...."

The moral trait smiled and walked up to his room. The lying trait hid the book in his cape and watched the father figure walk away.

Remus threw the green handled sword to his twin then bounced over to Janus. We walked out the double blue, red, and purple door and walked through the park.

As Janus was walking through the park, he saw memories. He saw him and Virgil on their first 'date' they had a picnic. He saw King Romulus big a mighty playing with a smaller Virgil. He smiled at the visions. Remus was busy eating deodorant to see the scenes around the two. They arrived at the dark green and yellow door.

Remus walked in a flopped on the sofa. Janus walked to his room that still after 10 years, faintly smelled of smoke. He took his cape off and hat and hung them both on the coat rack. He undressed the rest of the way and threw on a pair of boxers and a black snake shirt. He sighed and fell into bed.

Faking being okay around the princely side was hard that day. When he was checking Virgil's memory, he saw what happened with Roman, Virgil was faithful. He pushed Roman away. The snake was just too late.

The tears fell down the side of his face. Rolling slowly down his yellow scales. He heard Remus walk down the hallway and he sat up and carefully wiped the tears from his scales. He got up and opened the bedroom door before the dark green side could. "Yes Remus?" "You want to play a video game?" The snake nodded "But only Resident Evil." The duke smiled wide and ran to the living room. He handed the snake a controller. He smiled at the childish smile his close friend wore. They snuggled on the sofa and started the video game.

After a few rounds the Deceitful side fell asleep on the scary side. Remus hummed him a little song before falling asleep himself. He dreamed of a day where all the sides could live together, No light no dark, just peace.
