Montier?! I swing the door open and drag him inside before I even notice his fur is soaked in blood, and there are a few rips in his flesh. Did he do it? Did he kill Nümla... "I.. need... help." He collapses on the floor right in front of me, I scream for Jeff to come down as I pick him up gently and begin to head for the medical room.

"Jane?! What's wrong! Where are you?" Jeff is yelling as he runs down the stairs and I reply back telling him I'm going to the medical room, that Montier is back and he is hurt. I look back at Jeff, he runs past me opening the door, telling me to lay him down on the table. I run down the hallway and open Abbigael and Andrews door, but they aren't there. Or at least I can't see them.

"Abbigael? Andrew?" I whisper into the dark, two figures emerge and I see the eyes. "Montier is back, he's hurt!" I have them follow me back to where Montier is laying on the table. Jeff is cleaning the blood from his fur and stitching up the gashes.

"He'll be alright. He just needs to rest for a while, Jane go get some water from the creek, hurry." He turns his attention back to the moaning Montier. I run back through the sliver between the dresser and the wall, through the kitchen, out the back door, grab the pail and head for the creek. Once I've returned Montier is somewhat conscious. "He should be well enough by tomorrow to be able to walk around, he just had a rough one." I hand the pail to Jeff and he grabs a glass sitting on an old sink. He fills the glass partway and lifts Montier's drooping head. Montier lets his lip fall down as Jeff pours water into his gullet.

"Can he talk?" Andrew peaks his head from around the corner asking Jeff directly. Andrew seems off today, the aura that comes off of him sends a strangely positive vibe.

"I can." He grunts back at him, but his stare meets mine. "Jane, Nümla... She's dead. The other fellow is gone." He lifts his arm slowly and has me come over so that he can whisper into my ear, "He said to tell you personally... He's not after you, but after Abbigael." He gives me a dead stare to let me know he's done. Jeff gives me a concerning grin, but I shrug it giving him the impression nothing is wrong. I head back upstairs and into our bedroom, I plop down on the bed and begin to dose off.

What is this place? It's so dark, but a beautiful melody is playing. A light? It's the size of a pinhole, but enough to see through it. I peer into the light and see nothing. Just like in the dark. There is nothing here, but when I put my ear to the hole, a different kind of music is playing. It's horrifying music. I go to clobber what seems to be a wall but then I realize something on the ground by my feet. I hammer, convenient enough. I swing the hammer as hard as I can at the wall, pieces crumble and then color begins to come in. Streams of iridescent light, rainbows, tendrils, bright colors, shapes, the music even changes. It's all clashing, and creating beauty, the dark and the light intertwining, it's almost as if a yin yang is bursting and flowing together...

"Jane?" Huh? Who's shaking me, why am I being shook! "Are you awake? Jane!" I open my eyes, and when they focus I see Jeff's bright smile gleaming at me. He nudges me with his face trying to play I assume. Wow that dream was strange. He lays himself on top of me and starts making wining sounds. What the hell is he doing, he rolls off of me and points to his computer. "Movie?" He just sits there almost with puppy dog eyes, but not quite. I guess movie it is.

"Do we have something we can eat?" I ask him, but yet again he points but this time to the floor, there are a couple of grocery bags on the floor filled to the brim. "Is there enough for the others?" I don't want him hoarding all of it up here.

"This is our share, Montier has his, and Abbigael and Andrew have theirs. Movie? Please!" He's begging me at this point, so I nod, he leaps from the bed causing it shake. He types really fast, something appears on the screen. He walks over to the closet and pulls something odd out. Wow! I haven't seen one of those in years. He hooks up a projector to the lap top and points it at the wall. He grabs a bag of chips and sets down again beside me on the bed. He's nudging me again with his face, and wraps his arms around me. We kiss for a few before the movie begins.

I have to wonder about that dream though, it was so different. Does that symbolize Jeff and I? Clashing, creating something wonderful. I guess I won't know, at least not yet. Time will tell.

Jeff dozes off half-way through the movie, so I get up as quietly as possible and turn the computer off. I look at his side of the bed and the bag of chips spilled all over the floor. I go downstairs to see if there is a broom or something I can use to clean up his stupid mess, but then I hear something. "Who's there?" I whisper into the dark, it's stupid, but whatever's here is here and knows I'm here as well. A loud bark echoes through the dark kitchen and then I realize Smile Dog has made his way into the house. "What're you doing boy?" I kneel down, even though I can't see, I know he'll come over to me anyways.

"To see who's hurt." Did.. Did you just talk? I think I'm losing my mind, Jeff's dog just spoke to me.

"Smile Dog...?" I question into the darkness, but there's no touch, he didn't come over to me. I stay crouched there, dumbfounded.

"Can you hear me?" He, it spoke again. Smile Dog can't speak, he's a dog! Someone else is here, and it's obviously not the damn dog. Maybe there's another demon in here? God, all of this is just too much. I knew I should've stayed upstairs, left the movie play, or even attempted to debunk that dream, but no! I had to be stupid and come down here, in the dark, and now things are talking to me!

I walk over to the nearest wall and start feeling around for the light switch. "Jane.. I can't see, can you tell me who's hurt? I smell them, they smell really hurt! Please Jane..." Wait... I find the switch and flick it on quickly before lunging towards the nearest knife, grasping it in my hands as I peer carefully around the room. I feel some relief when I see Smile Dog, but then thought comes over.

This could be fake, it could be just another demon! It could be anything! "You aren't Smile Dog!" I run close to the wall and out of the kitchen. "Abbigael!" I scream and scream her name over and over again, even as I go through the dark hallway, even waking up the poor Montier. I burst through their door, nearly breaking it. "Abbigael! There's a creature in the house, it speaks to me! It says it's Smile Dog, but he can't speak!" My face begins flushing, I hear Abbigael step away from her bed, and walk passed me.

"I'm sure there's nothing to fear, sometimes when a dog such as Smile Dog has something happen to it, it will find a way to communicate. I'm sure it's really nothing." For once she actually calmed me down. I trailed behind her as we got close to the kitchen where the dog was just sitting there blankly.

"Please help me..." There it was again, is that really Smile Dog, or is it some creature here to try to rip us apart again.

"Relax Jane, it's Smile Dog." She walked closer and closer to the shell that sat there. "He's blind." Abbigael touched his face, and started to stroke his back to calm him. "He's communicating with you telepathically, just tell me what he says when I ask him questions."

"What happened boy?" Abbigael was trying to soothe him.

"There was a big light, and then I couldn't see, and it was really loud. That's all I can remember..." He turned his head around, even without sight he knew where Jeff was.

Jeff was walking down the stairs quietly, I guess the commotion woke him up, not a surprise. "What's going on?" Jeff spoke softly, still tired.

"Something happened to Smile Dog." I spoke to him, slowly standing up. I could see the expression change in his eyes. That same stupid smile still lingering there, even if he wanted to frown, the scars prevented that.

"I'm going out." That's all he said, and then he left. He just walked out the door and was gone. I ran out the door after him, even with such a simple situation, I knew his intent. He was going to town, and then an innocent gone. He was going to murder.
