Hermione's p.o.v
I was waiting for Ron, Harry and Percy in the Gryffindor common room. I had to admit, my feelings for Percy had grown since he came to Hogwarts. I mean what normal girl wouldn't have a crush on him? He was tall, well built, funny, smart when he wanted to be but what sold the deal was when I found out how nice he actually is. Usually good looking guys are egotistical jerks but Percy is the complete opposite of such people. Last night, when Percy showed us his girlfriend's picture, I was jealous. She was stunning and I knew I stood no chance and something told me their relationship wasn't any lame teenage relationship. It was love in its truest form. I decided that even if I was jealous, I was happy for the two of them.
But apart from all that, there was something suspicious about Percy. He wasn't evil or anything, there was this trusting vibe that he gave out and his body seemed to be radiating some sort of powerful aura. Even though is only known him for a couple of days, I trusted him completely. As much as I trusted Ron and Harry if not more. He wasn't evil, that was for sure .
I was snapped out if my train of thoughts when I saw Ron trudging down the staircase, his hair looked like he'd just rolled out of bed which he probably had. "Where's Harry?" I asked. "Don't know. I woke up this morning to find his bed and Percy's empty." Another thing I had noticed the couple of days was that most of the guys were jealous of Percy, the Slytherins had stopped calling me a mud blood, every time Percy was around. I guess the incident on the train had spread.
Anyways, Ron and I climbed out of the portrait hall and went down for breakfast. Once we were in the great hall, Ron immediately sat down at the Gryffindor table and began stuffing his face with almost everything he could get his hands on. Gross! Enough about Ron and his gross behavior. I was about to dig into the food before me when something very strange happened.
There was a loud sound and suddenly a sort of mist was hanging in the great hall. It was so thick that it was difficult to see within five feet of yourself. When the mist finally cleared, I felt like I was petrified again. Not like the basilisk but much worse. It looked so hideous that I almost longed for the basilisk. But then this thing couldn't possibly be real.... could it? Those five heads and that huge dirty green body just wasn't supposed to exist. The hydra is just a Greek myth which I read about in the library when I was in fourth year. I looked over at the teacher's table and for the first time ever, did they look afraid. The other students present in the hall did the only sensible thing. They screamed. "Come on Ron. We need to find Percy and Harry. Lets go." I said, grabbing his arm and dragging him away from the monster. The great hall was in utter chaos. All the students and teachers were having a panic attack. The teachers were trying their best to pacify the students but in vain.
"SILENCE!" Yelled Dumbledore. Everybody immediately shut up. Seeing mythical creature was rare but an angry Dumbledore was even rarer. "Please do not panic. Prefects, please lead all the students till the fifth year back to the common room. The others may stay." Ron and I started making our way past the crowd of students and towards the professors. "Stupefy!" I yelled, pointing my wand at the monster. The red jet of light hit the monster but nothing happened. That only made it more angry.
Just then the doors of the great hall burst open and Harry and Percy came charging in. Percy took out a.... pen? What was he going to do with that? He uncapped it and it morphed into a bronze sword with a black leather handle. He charged right at the monster.
The sight was scary. He looked like a warrior, born for battle. There wasn't even a trace of fear on his face. Only a kind of determination, like he wanted to get rid of this monster as soon as possible. Percy fought like a demon, he slashed, hacked and dodged all the flame attacks of the hydra. Just then, Harry who was too surprised to do anything was stunned out of his thoughts when a very familiar silver sword with a ruby encrusted hilt appeared in his hands.
