"i miss you.." karl muttered from where he stood in the doorway, making his best friend whirl around in his chair to look at him. he smiled. he had been streaming for a few hours and had literally just hit the "end stream" button when karl approached. adorable.

"come here," he encouraged, patting the space in his lap to tell the fluffy-haired boy to take a seat. he complied, though nervously, sitting on nick's lap with his knees on either side of the larger man's thighs. he looked up at nick with large blue eyes, a nervous frown set on his face and a blush on his cheeks.

"what's the matter? why are you looking at me like that?" nick asked through a smile, trying to cheer up the smaller boy if something was wrong. okay, admittedly, their relationship stretched a little bit past 'best friends', but they hadn't yet discussed exactly where it landed. they moved in together months ago, and it had truly been just 'best friends' up until a few weeks ago.

one night they had been having a lighthearted argument on the couch, and karl being the touchy person he is, initiated a play-fight through his string of insults.

"you literally don't even know what you're talking about!" he had shouted, maybe a little bit too loud, through a grin on his face. "marceline and bubblegum are together so it only makes sense that marshall and gumball are also a gay couple." he shoved nick's shoulder, getting on his knees on the couch cushion to try to seem more intimidating. nick was having none of it.

"but did you see the episode of marshall and fiona? the sexual tension in that entire thing was absolutely unmatched, they were fucking fucking. not even on the down low, they were banging hard." nick said shamelessly and confidently.

karl stared with his jaw hung slack for a moment. "i did not realize that you were both a nimrod and a nonce! oh my god sapnap no! fiona is like a child!" he smacked his hands at nick's shoulders and chest, and nick rolled his eyes.

"you better quit that karl you're lucky i haven't been fighting back."

"oh yeah? what're you gonna do?" he punctuated his question by positioning one knee on the couch cushion directly between nick's knees, all too close to his crotch. karl didn't think of this when he did it though, only trying to give himself a one-up position.

nick shook his head softly, an antagonizing smile on his face. "you're fucked." he said proudly, before sliding one arm behind karl's back and grabbing his wrists with the other, pushing and pulling to swiftly land the older boy's back flat against the couch. with karl's wrists in his one hand, held above his head, and his knee between karl's legs, he smirked.

karl had yelped loudly at the sudden movement, as you would expect from the vocal boy. "what now, pretty boy?" nick had asked with a confident smirk, and the deep blush on karl's face had told him all he needed to know.

"nothing," karl answered now, sat comfortably in nick's lap in front of his setup. "i just... i just missed you." he snuggled his face into nick's hoodie, playing with one of the strings in his hand.

"oh yeah? what were you up to while i was streaming?" nick asked, far too close to karl's ear. he had to be doing it on purpose, right? nick knew that karl's most sensitive areas were his ears and neck, turning to putty the moment hot breath would fan over them. especially if it was accompanied by a certain boy's low, hot, teasing voice.

karl took a shuddering breath. "watched your stream and waited for it to be over so i could come see you." he answered, and nick smiled. karl was clingy, he had always been clingy but ever since the first night that he had slammed the boy into the couch and made him scream his name loud enough for the neighbors to complain, karl had been even more attached. nick wasn't complaining. he loved the feeling of being wanted, being needed by the boy. every chance karl got, he was as close to him as possible, and it made nick feel powerful.
