very fluff! holiday fluff!

you giggled as you looked out the window at the pitch black sky, somehow glowing, dark as it may be. you could see everything going on without a single streetlight, and that was because from the sky fell a constant flow of white puffs. you felt a shiver run down your spine and blushed as your body twitched to it, looking over at george where he stood next to you. he smiled at your little outburst and opened his blanket for you to join under his arm. with a soft blush taking over your face, you leaned into him. you felt so giddy as you looked out at the layer of snow covering the whole driveway from the second story window of george's bedroom, feeling safe with your body pressed up against his to share body heat.

you really couldn't imagine a situation more perfect, you'd been pining over george for months now to no avail, it seemed he was either completely clueless or just trying to ignore it and move on as good friends. you were okay with it if that was the case, of course, but you knew that it would be best to address it and talk it out with him eventually.

you made a sudden decision as he pushed his cheek against the top of your head. you miss every chance you don't take, and you knew it was safe to be open and honest with george. he wasn't the type to laugh at you or be rude about it, and it was a perfect moment.

"hey george?" you asked softly, your heart already beginning to race.

"hey Y/N?" he replied with a smile obvious in his voice, and you swallowed hard at the sound of his voice. it was just so cute and perfect, you loved it. he lifted his head back up off of yours and looked at you, and when you looked back up at him your eyes were met with concern. this was when you realized you'd taken too long to respond.

"i- um, have been meaning to talk to you about something." you said, looking back down at your socked feet on his carpet.

"is something the matter? here come here.." he trailed off, opening the blanket and lifting it off of you to make his way to the bed, where he sat against the wall and opened one arm of it to you to invite you back in.

you obliged to this easily, curling up right next to him and squishing your cheek against his chest. he was your safety, your comfort, and you knew everything would be okay as long as you had him there whether that was platonically or romantically.

"sort of... listen okay, there's this guy." you started, oblivious to the way george's heart sank the moment your sentence began. he rubbed your back comfortingly and forced a smile, knowing that it was his duty to help you out whether it broke his heart to think of you being in love with someone or not.

"oh? tell me about him!" he encouraged, oblivious to the way your heart sank the moment he showed so much enthusiasm.

the two of you were fools as you sat there cuddling on his bed, believing that your worlds individually were ending and the other would never love you back.

"you know him. he's so sweet... and he always makes me laugh, and he makes me feel so safe. i'm always so comfortable around him." you started off, and george grimaced as he tried to imagine who it was that you spoke of so fondly. his first guess was clay.

"go on." he encouraged after you paused.

"i- he's just- he's so pretty. he makes me feel like all of those songs that are supposed to make you feel like you're in a coming of age film you know? i feel like my only purpose in life is to go on late night adventures with him to stores and parks and... and kiss him under the moonlight. i want to tell him so bad, be with him for the holidays, but i'm so scared of rejection. i feel like i'm nowhere near good enough to be with him." you silently played with the hem of your own t shirt as you spoke to him, feeling your eyes sting a little bit just from feeling so many emotions at once.
