The train was honking. Smoke covered the atmosphere. The loud steps of the running peoples. The cries and waves of goodbyes of the peoples who were forced to be apart. The loud voices of the traders. The loud barking of the animals. All of that made one conclusion...
Loud.
Very loud place…
but, all I could hear was my heartbeat. It kept getting stronger and louder. faster.
I kept on walking and looked straight.
My heart ached. The sun was rising, breezes of the winds were surrounding me. The sky was sky blue with a tint of pink in it. Morning was not the time to cry, I kept holding my tears. It’s been such a long time.
I sat down on the bench, the only bench that’s empty. I kept fidgeting my hands and bit my lips. My eyes were tired. I didn’t sleep all night, I’ve been waiting for this day to come.
Flashback,
Back then, it was on the mid-autumn. I wore my coat and packed my things. The sun was almost set. The sky began to turn dark. School was finished two hours ago, but I was working on homework. It needed to be done by the next day so, I went home late. The school was quiet. All I could hear was my own footsteps.
I liked it.
I went downstairs and immediately smelled cigarettes. I coughed.
Who had the audacity to smoke on a freaking school?! No-one is supposed to be here except the officers… I clenched my fists.
I looked around and saw the guy who’s smoking, he was sitting on the floor, laying back on the wall next to the stairs.
Black haired, tan skinned, very messy dressed. Untied shoes, uncombed hair, and a navy blue jacket was tied on his waist… he’s no other than Jeremy Thomson. He was my classmate, but, I couldn’t care less about him. As far as I remembered, he didn’t even care to know his classmate’s name.
I glared. He glanced at me and widened his blue eyes. “oh… h-hi!” he said as he blew more smoke out.
I coughed again, closing my mouth. “Do you mind?” I muttered.
“Oh… you can’t stand smoke…” He immediately put out and threw away the cigarette on the trash can besides him. “There you go,” he said as he pressed his lips.
“You should stop smoking,” I said in an annoyed tone as the wind blew the smoke away.
“I know, been trying too… Everyone tells me that… wait, you’re Maisie Lennon, aren’t you? I don’t know you can talk to people,” He said, grinning.
I widened my eyes. Jeremy Thomson knows my name? My full name?! “You know my name?”
“yeah… you’re my classmate, right? The one who always sits in the corner but, get surprisingly good grades… Why so surprised?” He asked. He turned towards me and his blue eyes were staring at me. He couldn't be serious... He actually paid attention to his classmates?!!
“Nothing,” I mumbled. I blinked several times. He’s the one who always got into fights with teachers, skip classes, and got detention…
“What are you doing in this hour?” he asked again.
“I was finishing my homework, you?” I asked back.
“Same…” he smiled. I looked down and noticed that his arms were severely bruised and scarred.
