𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 —
an unfamiliar comfortthe game of BATTLE ROYALE has finally begun. you felt scared if you were honest, you really don't want to get murdered. that's the last thing you want to experience. so you set up a goal for yourself— you will make it out alive, no matter what.
you looked through your bag, kawada also looked through his. in your bag there was a couple of food and first aid kits. you digged your hand more into the bag and finally found what you were looking for. the gun. you felt more at ease knowing you were lucky to have a weapon. you showed kawada and he simply returned a small smile and showed his gun, a shotgun to be exact.
the night sky was slowly becoming colder bringing the chills to your skin. "maybe we should look for some place to stay for awhile, it's already late." kawada suggested standing up swinging the bag over his shoulder, you agreed as you stood up taking your bag. you kept the gun in your hand and kawada did so too, just in case anyone tried to come at you two.
as you two walked side by side staying as cautious as possible the sound of rustling was heard from behind you two. kawada was quick to get infront of you, he held the shotgun ready and armed. seconds later a male student yelled running towards kawada swinging his arm that had a knife right at him who immediately reacted by shooting the guy on the head. the male froze and slowly fell onto the floor. this made you realize how truly prepared kawada is.
kawada walked to the guy and bent down taking the knife and the bag. he stood back up and walked to you. he held your arm, not hand! though you really would prefer him to hold your hand during this moment..
kawada began walking looking forward, "we gotta go before it gets more dangerous." he said. looking for a place made you tired. kawada didn't seem to be tired at all, since he kept walking without any stops. you two walked through hills, long grass and even mud and finally saw a small house that was near.
you two quickly went to the house. it looked old and small. some of the paint on the wood was already peeling off and there was some parts of the wood that weren't stable anymore. kawada stopped your from entering the house, "wait outside, ill check inside first." he last said before he entered the house leaving you alone.
you stood outside waiting patiently, still holding your gun. the wind breeze was nice, it was so quiet and peaceful— until you felt a sharp pain on your left thigh. you winced and looked down seeing an arrow inside your thigh. blood gushed out of your thigh. immediately you looked up holding your gun out pointing everywhere. "come on now, don't hide!" you said even if you sounded fearless you were really scared.
another arrow was shot making you duct down. seeing where the arrow came from you pointed the gun towards the side. two males were hiding behind a tree. you could clearly see them now, both of their backs were facing you. you pulled the trigger back and finally shot one on the back of their shoulder. they weren't doing a good job hiding. the guy let out a winced falling onto the ground. you held onto the arrow feeling your leg trying to ease the pain taking closer to the boys. the boy that wasn't hurt aimed his weapon at you, it was the one that shot arrows. you shot him first before he can shoot another arrow at you. you shot his chest, you watched as he fell onto his knees holding onto his chest.
his friend yelled his name quickly holding onto him. you pointed your gun at him and as soon as you were going to shoot you fell onto the ground wincing. when you fell kawada quickly rushed to you. he held onto your shoulders and looked at the arrow in your thigh, his eyes grew wide for a split second.
kawada stood up once he heard the cries of a guy. looking towards the direction he pointed the shotgun and shot at the male who was crying holding his friend. the males eyes grew wide feeling the pain on his chest. and after awhile he fell back.
kawada went back to you and helped you up, "we'll stay here tonight." he informed putting your arm over his shoulder helping you get inside the house. you limped there and every step you took gave you more aching pain on your leg.
inside the house was a small twin bed. kawada helped you lay down on the bed and took a good look at the arrow. the blood continued to flow out endlessly. kawada didn't say a word and took out the first aid kit from your bag. you watched as he looked through the first aid kit, "i need to take the arrow out," he said about to touch the arrow, "already??" you asked sitting up letting out a nervous laugh. he could tell you were scared. he only nodded in response and when he touched the arrow again you stopped him, "you're just going to take it out?"
he let out a small sigh and ripped some of the bandages before handing them to you, "put this in your mouth then, don't interrupt me anymore." you took the cloth and layed back down.
it was a painful journey for both but, kawada ended up cleaning the wound successfully. you made sure to pay attention on how kawada fixed the wound. he wrapped the last bandage and stood up once he was done. you sat up and whipped the sweat off your forehead and looked at the arrow that was on the table.
"you should've been more cautious" kawada searched through the rusty cabinets. you looked down feeling ashamed, its only the first day and you already have an injury. "why do you want to cry, the work is done already." kawada questioned pulling a chair beside the bed and handed you some medicine. ".. i feel bad.." you muttered taking the medicine. kawada stayed silent for awhile and looked everywhere but you. its rare for him to ever see you cry. so when you do cry, he just stays quiet not knowing if he should hug you or not.
"no ones in fault for your injury." kawada assured leaning back on the chair. "drink the medicine now." you only nodded and took a small gulp of the medicine.
you two stayed there in silence. "tomorrow let's just stay here, you need to get healed." kawada interrupted the silence taking the lighter and cigarette he had in his pocket. you're already use to seeing kawada smoke, he's been smoking for awhile now.
you shut your eyes feeling tired. your thankful kawada didn't just leave you on the ground in pain. he's a friend you can trust. the silence and having kawada simply beside you gave you an unfamiliar comfort. he made you feel safe.
while you were going to sleep kawada quietly smoked, letting you have your rest. he didn't plan to get any rest tonight, he won't let you get hurt again. he'll stay awake incase any other person tries to come inside. kawada looked over his shoulder and saw you already asleep. he sat up and rested a hand on your forehead, your head wasn't as warm like before which was a good sign. "good, even expired medicine works."
