Preeran ff: Is it all over?

The narrow escape

After  some  months, Preeta was eight months pregnant.

Karan and Preeta were back home. Everyone wanted to forget the past, especially the ones about Mahira. Karan made sure Preeta slept comfortably,he joined the rest of the family members downstairs. They seemed to be worried and quite shaken about what happened. They never thought Mahira could be so sinister. In all this , Kareena kept quiet, she knew a  single word could make the others suspicious about her. Little did she know that her silence caught attention.

Rakhi: di why are you quiet?

Kareena: nothing babhi.

Rakhi: Karan, you are here , how is Preeta doing?

Karan: ma she is doing fine but she is still traumatized. She feels scared and thinks that Mahira is out there to harm us.

Sameer: yeah bhai, I understand babhi's concern. You two nearly lost your baby. Plus, Mahira's body wasn't found too.

Kritika: yeah Sammy , I don't think it's safe for babhi to stay here.

Rakhi: what do you mean?

Kritika: mummy ji, I think bhai and babhi should go somewhere , right mummy ji.

Karan: no , not now. We can't travel in Preeta's condition.

Suddenly, they hear Preeta screaming from upstairs.

Rishabh: Karan, isn't it Preeta ji ?

Karan: come let's go.

They all go to the room and find Preeta frightened and crying, as if she had seen a ghost. They asked her severally but she only whimpered and hicupped.

Rakhi: kya hua beta?

Karan: babydoll what happened, say something.

Everyone pressurises her to say something. Poor Preeta couldn't handle the pressure and fainted. They tried everything to wake her but to no avail. Rishabh told Karan to get the car ready. They took her to the hospital, where she was taken to the ward. She was immediately admitted since her condition was critical. The doctor came out after few hours.

Karan: doctor, is my wife okay?

Doctor: Mr. Luthra, your wife's condition is very serious. An unknown drug had been given to her ,I am afraid she will have to give birth pre- maturely .

Karan: what!!!

Doctor: Yes Mr. Luthra, in such cases either only the mother  survives or the child. We will  need your signature on the forms.

Karan: please save my wife, I beg you

After some time they hear sounds of a baby crying.

Doctor: congratulations Mr. Luthra , it's a girl.

Karan: really and my wife?

Doctor: thankfully both are alright. But Preeta is very weak. I have a question though , how did she consume poison. We just found out after checking her blood test results.

Everyone; what!!

Rakhi: do..do.. doctor, how is it possible? Cyanide??

Doctor: haan , Mrs. Luthra, she ingested poison . It's actually a miracle that she and her baby survived. She developed blood poisoning but she was brought here quickly. We even don't understand how she survived. But we will have to keep her under observation.

Karan: but why doctor, you said she is alright.

Doctor: yes we will have to monitor her since we don't know anything about the posion. We can't discharge her yet, at least for some days. You can't see her now, she is still very weak.

Karan: please let us see her, we will  not trouble her, please. I would like to see my wife and daughter.

Doctor: ok Mr. Luthra, but only one at a time.

Rakhi: Karan you should go first dear, jao

Shristi: yes jiju ,you go, I will call mom to inform her .

Karan enters the ward . He hadn't seen Preeta in such a condition apart from when Mahira attacked her except this time her condition was worse. There where a lot of beeping machines surrounding her, she had an oxygen mask on and she was receiving
blood too.

Karan slowly walked towards her and sat by her side. He held her left pinky finger and started crying. His whole world seemed to be crumbling down . All the walls of a beautiful future he had built were all shaking vigorously. He definitely couldn't imagine a life without Preeta .

Karan's POV.

Wow, Preeta Arora you do like troubling me a lot. Just a few months ago, you put your life in  unnecessary danger. Why kareli ,why? You know I can't live without you ever. When I met you, I hated you so much. I wanted to get rid of you . But I did not know when I started falling for you. When you got engaged to Prithvi, I felt angry, jealous, hurt , sad and betrayed, I felt like something that belonged to me was being taken away. When I understood my feelings for you, I resolved to not let you belong to anyone else. When you reciprocated my feelings, I felt like the luckiest guy in the whole world.
We have been through a lot together and I know we will go through a lot in the coming years, but I want to go through them with you by my side. You have become an obsession... no not an obsession, you have become an addiction. I will die without you.

Karan started crying , the tears didn't stop. Even Karan was surprised, the Karan Luthra was crying. The tears didn't stop, soon Preeta's hand was soaked with tears. The tears were cold and sad, they depicted Karan's heart and feelings. One moment Preeta was still but the next her fingers started shaking, it was like Karan's tears had pierced her soul. Preeta started moving but Karan  was so engulfed in sorrow that he did not even realize the movements. Preeta started getting flashes of what happened but they were not clear. She started saying Karan's name softly . Karan thought it was his imagination but soon he felt Preeta's movement and looked up.

Karan(softly): Preeta what happened , say something please.

Preeta: Karan... Karan... She will kill me , she will

Karan: what who will kill you, doctor, nurse, somebody help.

The doctor comes and checks her , the Luthras all rushed inside. The doctor checked and surprisingly told them that Preeta had recovered

Luthras: really how.

Doctor: yes, but she will stay here for a few days.

Everyone asks Preeta what happened but she had blank expressions. Therefore they decided to let her rest .

Preeta: Karan

Karan: haan

Preeta:can I see the child ?

Karan:yes of course let's go.

Karan helps Preeta into the wheelchair
They go to the incubation room. Preeta carefully touches her baby's hand with tears in her eyes . Karan also touches the baby and rolls Preeta out of the room. The next few days passed by slowly , Karan would stay with Preeta the whole time. Finally Preeta and her baby were discharged. Sarla and the rest of the Aroras went to the Luthra mansion to welcome them.

Preeta and her baby were welcomed grandly and taken to her bedroom in which Deepika, Kritika and Shristi had decorated for the baby. Preeta was still very weak and couldn't walk properly but was getting better. She still had unclear flashes of what happened.

Outside, two people met and smirked at each other going over their plan. Poor Luthras were in for a big shock and tragedy coming their way.

I don't know why but I feel like a storm is coming our way . God please protect us.
