Weeks passed without event. Stevonnie was recovering, albeit slowly. She could now stand without the crutches, even if she was still unable to go through much physical exertion without collapsing.

Summer break was due to begin, and Stevonnie stared out the window in math class, chafing at the reigns wanting to be able to help. Nevertheless, she was stuck. Suddenly, however, sirens began to blare and an air raid was announced. It was soon thereafter that Stevonnnie saw a large, hand shaped ship descending. Their classmates were cowering under the desks, as was expected of them. Stevonnie reaches into their bag, and pulled out the vials. They pocketed two, and splashed themselves with the third. They didn't know what was going to happen; but what they did know, was that at least this time the cafeteria should remain intact. Stevonnie shifted pink as they speed out of the room before anyone could stop them. The ship came in for a landing, but, with massive strain, they summoned a massive hexagon and flung it back.

"There's no other choice now. It's do or die."

"Right. If we let the ship get off planet and report back, there's nothing we can do to stop total annihilation."

"So let's not let up then"

The ship went to fire a barrage upon them, but they deflected it with their shield. The ships crew, realizing they had no means of taking Stevonnie down with the ship, sent out a pod. A jasper, although thankfully not the Jasper, stepped out, alongside a small squad of rubies, which promptly fused.

Stevonnie let out a battle cry that cracked the land, and blew back her foes. They focused their attention on the jasper first. Forming spiked bubbles around their hands, they punched the Jasper in rapid fire. They bent over in pain, and tried to knee Stevonnie in the groin. Stevonnie leaped out of the way, right into the Ruby fusions gauntlet enhanced punch. The bruising on their back disappeared as their healing kicked in. The gems began a joint attack, but Stevonnie rolled back. As they did, they felt the first of the vials wearing off, as their powers grew weaker and their muscles grew tired. They broke open the second bottle in their hand, revving them up once more. They leaped up into the air, and speed downwards, shield drawn, slamming into the Ruby fusion. They fell apart, and two of them poofed. The Jasper jumped behind them and attempted to headbutt them, but they called forth a spiked bubble, jabbing them in the eye, and forcing the Ruby back. The Ruby retorted with a punch, but it missed as Stevonnie fell to the ground. Their body could hardly move, much less support their weight, and using their powers was all but impossible. The Ruby and Jasper leaned over, sneering at their victory. Straining, Stevonnie crushed the last vial, and then rolled out of the way as the Jasper attempted to crush them underfoot.

Steven tried to summon a shield and throw it, but Connie restrained the fusion. "We have to stop using our powers. We basically fainted just then, and the affects weren't even all gone. If we keep using our powers, who knows if we'll have the strength to get back up even if we do win." Steven was dissatisfied, but knew she was right; they powered down.

They quickly scoured the field for anything they could use to take back the advantage. Suddenly, an idea came to them. Blocking the Ruby's strike, they hurried to the ship and booted it up. The only ship either of them had ever piloted was Pink's leg ship, but they had to hope they could make this work. They ran to the console, and took control. They managed to launch the ship, but couldn't find the artillery. Feeling the beginnings of their strength fading, they racked their brains for any ideas. Connie thought to more eloquent solutions, but Steven came up with one that could work. They used the massive hand ship to slap the enemy gems, cracking both of them. They felt that the last bits of their power were waning, and they could feel they would soon lack the strength to stay conscious, and they feared, to stay alive. They knew they couldn't send out a distress beacon, but they had to do something. With a final burst of strength, they went pink, and focused all of their thoughts and energy into one word: "help" hoping their ability to interfere with signals would allow them to send out the message before the last of their powers left them. They lost the last of their strength, and fell to the ground unconscious.
