A/N: decided to make Chris a Slytherin because he has a lot of ambition he just doesn't what to do with it really.

Everyone was tittering about the Yule ball. So many people already had dates, but me, nope. I'd been asked by one of the boys from Durmstrang, but I'd heard that he was very pushy and physical. I didn't want to get myself trapped in something I'd regret. No one from Hogwarts had asked me. I wasn't even sure if there was anyone I wanted to ask me.

One of my favorite classes, Care of Magical Creatures, was starting soon. I threw on my red and gold scarf and began running down to Hagrid's cottage. The snow wasn't deep but it was cold, and I could feel my toes ache within my boots. I performed a warming spell as I ran to keep my feet from being in pain the entire class time. I really needed thicker boots.

I got there ten minutes early, along with Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Though I was sure the only reason Ron and Harry were early was because of the nagging of Hermione. Hermione was a friend of mine, though, I wasn't too familiar with Ron and Harry.

"Hey Y/N," a smug voice appeared near me. Towering over me was the lanky Slytherin, Chris Kendall. Chris was obnoxious, and always bothering me in classes. Thankfully, not all my classes were with the Slytherins or I'd get nothing done. He seemed to be intent on distracting me at all times.

"This is is my favorite class Kendall, If you bother me I'll be really pissed," I snapped immediately, not even giving him a chance to speak.

"I didn't even do anything," he whined.

"Well don't," I said reproachfully.

He was silent for a while as some Slytherin girls turned their attention to him. He was quite popular with the ladies since he was funny. However, he didn't have the cruel sense of humor some of the Slytherins did. One of the most obnoxious things about Chris Kendall was that he was very attractive.

Hagrid started his lesson on Pegasi. The large, winged horses were nothing like the delicate muggle versions. Muscles rippled through their body, and though they were colored with pastel hues, they looked fierce. Their wings could have easily broken an arm, and their teeth looked too sharp for comfort.

"I hear some muggles like ponies so much they dress up like them," Chris whispered in my ear. It tickled and I scrubbed at my ear.

"Those aren't ponies," I mumbled back. "A Pegasus is a magical being, and much stronger than a pony."

"I don't think the type of horse really matters to them, pony, unicorn, Pegasus, they like them all," he kept speaking to me.

"I don't care," I snarled, clutching my notebook tighter with annoyance.

"I think they actually fancy the ponies, you know, in a sexual way," Chris explained further.

"Really?" I couldn't help turning slightly to him now. Being Pureblood meant a lot of things about Muggles baffled me. Chris was a half-blood, so he was more knowledgeable about them than I.

"Yeah, I've seen them talking about it on the internet," Chris told me. Chris had explained to me what the internet was before, but I always forgot.

"Never mind," I said seeing his wide grin.

"I don't believe you. Last week you told me muggles eat chickens alive because they don't have killing curses."

Chris was laughing so hard he had to hold his sides.

"Hermione told me that was wrong," I frowned at how funny he thought it was.

We were distracted by an argument a couple of feet in front of us. Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy we're having a hushed discussion.

"Ugh those two," Chris rolled his eyes. "They're always at it."

I ignored him, trying to focus on the lesson. Chris could not let himself not be the center of attention for long. I was sure in moments he'd be bothering me again.

"I think they secretly want to fuck each other," Chris whispered much too close to my ear. I had been determined to ignore him, whatever he did, but this statement was so preposterous that I couldn't help but laugh.

"Ha! I made you laugh," he beamed.

"Don't push it, Kendall," I said.

"Speaking of a laugh, would you want to go to the Yule Ball with me?" He asked.

I was absolutely stunned. This was the last thing I expected to come out of his mouth. Even more unexpected was that I kind of wanted to say yes.

"No way," I said, not wanting to give him satisfaction too fast.

"Common," He said and poked my side.

"What would I have to do to get you to say yes?" He asked.

"A lot," I scoffed, even though I fully intended on eventually saying yes.

"Like what?" He asked.

"Strip down and try to mount that pegasus," I said jokingly. I then turned back to my notes, studiously listening to what Hagrid had to say.

"Mr. Kendall!" I heard Hagrid shout, suddenly interrupting his lesson.

I looked up in confusion and what I saw made me howl with laughter. Chris was in his pants, trying to get on the Pegasus. The Pegasus was whining, and thrashing about.

"Chris!" I said in astonishment.

"You said y/n," he shouted from atop the huge beast. A large smile covering his face.

"Come on, go to the Yule Ball with me!" He said trying very hard to stay on the Pegasus.

"Fine!" I said, not able to keep the smile off my face.

"Woohoo!" He crowed and promptly fell off the winged horse.
